Can't wait for the game regardless! I like to get special editions but the night goggles are hard to justify when my car is dieing and I have a pre order games list as long as my arm. I think I shall stick with the tin version and put the rest of the 100 quid towards Tekken/Fight stick SE! Says me yesterday, in the article of MW2 yesterday, Which i said it directly after Infinity Ward announced it on they're twitter.
CVG should look at user comments more, rather then stupid sites. I just want MW2, don't care about CoD1, I'll be playing MW2 online.
Plus £80 for the steel book is a ****ing rip-off
£45 is the highest I'm willing to go, **** you Activision and your greedy profiteering! Me no dollar me know pounds.
Still say they should have done us a set of endorsed stereo headphones with mic you know something we could have actually used with the game, just an idea. I have a feeling it will be slightly more. Check out the products on this site.
http://www.nightvisiongear.co.uk/products.htm Christ in a recession and they want us to fork out that much for a 'hardened edition'. Ok I could get it but why would you want to.
Anyway that 79.99 one is also looking to be over priced.
Wonder what the pc versions will cost. Stated by InfinityWard that the suggested price will be 149.99$, The quality of the NVG's are quite good, they are intended for messing around with really, so 50 yard range is okay. http://twitter.com/InfinityWard
"A to some of your Q's - Prestige Edition suggested retail is $149 & yes, the COD Classic on XBLA & PSN does have full MP (via @fourzerotwo)about 16 hours ago from Tweetie "

Also as reported, the Call of Duty title is back in the boxart, However it isnt in the Hardened and Prestige, anyone notice that? :P As much as they look cool, it's priced way to high for me, hell I just bought the Professional version of Windows 7 for £90 this morning, now way am I paying more than that for a game. I would probably pay it if they actually convert it to GBP (£90) but if they expect us to pay £150 for it then they have another thing coming :P
Also the Night-vision doesn't look that great on it anyway. Looks like it'll be the kind you get on cheap security cameras. I wonder if PD will do a collectors edition of GT5, along with the new Citreon, for £10000039.99? The night-vision goggles seem like a cool addition, until you consider that in order for them to be included in a pack with a game, chances are that you can get some much cheaper somewhere else (iwantoneofthose.com?)
Not for me, thanks. At this rate I won't be getting it anywhere near launch anyway, especially since retaillers have decided that it will likely be one of the best selling games of recent times, and can get away with smacking an extra £5 onto the regular edition price.
Go to hell - I'd rather get it out of the bargain bin 6 months later. Damn getting mine later. Hoping they won't run out but doubt it.
Haha excellant! Is it true that the regular retail version is going to be £50? If so, they can kiss my balls and I will just make do with L4D2.. Not a hope. I've no use for a metal case, I've no interest in CoD1 and I couldn't even find a decent use for night vision goggles. I do, however, want the game in a regular DVD or Blu-ray sized case. Because that's how I store the rest of my games.
Retailers won't charge more than the RRP for it, because sales competition is fierce these days. All it takes is one smart store to drop it and everyone will buy from there instead, meaning a loss of revenue.
That said, I probably won't see my copy until Xmas since I just spent all my money on an iPhone :) can u use them ingame when u play mw2? or they just 2 mess with and use on the girls next door I think this is a clever marketing tool. Should any gamer who's not aware of the immenent arrival of Modern Warfare 2, will probably hear about this. I don't think it matters how many they sell, the publicity in itself will raise awareness a little more. Nice idea, clever marketing. I just hope they support this game with more download content than the original. And, for that matter, some free stuff, as a thank you to all the fans for the success we've given them and will continue to give them. I agree with your sentiment although I have it pre-ordered for the PC on Amazon which means I'm set to get it at a reasonable price upon release. I think it may end up taking more than 6 months for MW2 to end up in the cheap bin. MW 1 is still selling for 45 euros in many retail stores and that's the PC version (some online stores are a different matter).
P.S. YAY! Looks like I won't be eating my hat as I predicted this special edition would cost at least 99.99 quid! I'm not even going to buy the game at release. 45 quid is to much for what little im getting. It seems cheap as hell to me although I wouldn't get it. I thought night goggles were $250 AT LEAST! Which raises the question, "What is the quality of the included night vision goggles like"? I can't help but feel that special editions these days just aren't that special. Some are and i'm happy to pay the money but a lot of them just leave me feeling empty. Plus why are we getting 2 types of 'special editions'. Just have an uber edition (like the goggles, not my cup of tea but I can see the appeal if they used in the new game more) and get rid of the rest. I've been collecting for some years now and get the feeling that i'm being taken for a ride with some of these but no more. Kiss my grits FF7: Crisis Core SE you know what you did.
Best I've seen recently was the Farcry 2 SE (not bril but a finely made box) and the Halo 3 MC helmet. You can buy some from Amazon for a tenner and others for over £4000, so the quality of the goggles is up for debate. My guess is that they're of the former standard. »
Umm a good question. Would be nice to see these in action. Would be a bit pissed off if I spent all that money to find they didn't actually work in the dark :? »»
It's probably just got a head-mounted torch and a green filter.
 »»»
Haha class! This is why this idea seemed so ludicrous, at cheapest, NVG's are at 60 quid.
As said earlier, even if it was some sort of military heaadgear (which you could use as a headset, but also as a form of walkie talkie) or something equally tatty, yet serving atleast some reasonable purpouse it would make sense.
But NVG's? Jesus christ, what's next, a ****ing harpoon? Does this mean we'll start seeing games like big mama's cooking come with a complimentary spatula to scratch your arse with? I'll get it for 39.99 from Asda ... BUT only if the campaign mode is over 10 hours. I don't like online FPS too much. we shall see I may wait a week or two to hear from people what their take on campaign mode is. If you play the game on the toughest difficulty I doubt you'll get through it in ten hours. But honestly if you don't care much for FPS, do as I do with American sport or arcade driving games... save your money and buy something you will like. I'll eat my carrots instead and just buy the regular edition then with a price like that.
Bet there cheap anyway, good ones cost £1000+. why didnt they release something remotely useful like a cod controller or headset....night goggles whippidee doo !! why didnt they release something remotely useful like a cod controller or headset....night goggles whippidee doo !! Personally i'll only go for the hardened edition but im pissed off now though because I haven't gotten my final exam results yet so I don't know where im going to college and as such most of the Hardened editions will probably be pre-booked. Thinking on it now, I dont know if I want to buy prestige even if it comes to UK :S.
I'd much rather just buy the game, and then save the money for another game, Because lets be honest its going to be atleast 2 games worth in payment. I do play them on toughest difficulty cod 4 took around 8 hours and world at war took me a little over 10 (hence why I prefer it) I said I didnt like ONLINE FPS not the genre in general. But thanks for the tip none the less :D Are they forcing you guys to buy any sort of an extra? Relax, get the panties out of your behinds, and get the stand-alone game, if that's what you want. (yikes!!)
:? Then again, think how much you'll save on carrots...... We'll see!!! :D .
£149 will be ridiculous. Honestly though, it wudnt surprise me. The more I think about it, the less I want them now anyway! I'd rather get the Hardened edition coz I do want the COD1 DL (coz I never played it) although I wud use them, even if it was just pratting around wiv my m8s!!! **** that noise.
I'll be buying this either when it's 20 quid, or when Activision stop acting like money-grabbing scumbags. Whichever comes first. Im there. Day one!
Special edition whore in the flesh! I dont blow money on much else so what the hell.
If you think its too much dont buy it....you have options! Cool. When I'm not playing I'll be able to stalk my ex from the safety of the shadows. If this prestige version is to cost £149 and then you buy the inevitable 1 or 2 DLC map packs couldn't you actually buy a brand new Xbox for that price ? I can understand why special editions exist (trying to get more day one sales, and less resale etc) but they are now starting to smack of greed. They've been starting to creep up to double the price of the basic game, but now they are blowing that out of the water.
I also don't like the way some of them prey on peoples' thoughts that they may be missing out on something other people will have (a killer amoungst younger people, and therefore parents) like double XP in the first week, special levels or weapons etc. It's almost becoming an elitist thing, and gaming should not be about who has the most money to spend. ridiculous. |
