Still, an announcement of Ep 3 is still the most important announcement for me. Will this be a whole new chapter? Doesn't matter now... too little, too late. Now's the time to get rid of this game while it still has some second hand value. So, er, thanks for nothing Valve. Oh, and with the profits from your yearly zombie mod, do the fans a favour and create a game engine for this decade, make the game last longer than a few hours, and sort out that appauling game director Ai (for example, on the toughest setting, when the team's down to one injured man, don't have the game bring out a hoard and two special-infected... your poor decisions in this department have ruined more games than I care to remember). Thats great news. Looking forward to it and hopefully will begin to shut up the moaning kids about extra DLC, which is likly they wont charge for yet people seem to forget this of their past games. Looking forward to L4D2 as well and then we haven't shown everything that's in Left 4 Dead 2 yet."
in other words they've bolted something else on after peoples reaction to l4d2. I seem to remember them releasing a demo for l4d on live for a month. It'll be interesting to see the differences between the two once more details are revealed. I still can't help feeling we're just being given more of the same like the yearly EA sports updates
More so i'd be curious what the community split would be like when both go live for multiplayer. will it be similar to the old Doom/Doom2 preference or will the majority jump ship in favour of keeping up with the support of longer term updates?
Of course an Ep3 of Portal 2 wouldn't hurt soon eh? This has got to be the most retarded comment I have read in a long time. A) It's completely contradictory to tell them to get rid of a game and use the profits they got from selling it to do something else. B) They are a videogames company. What the **** did you think they were going to use their investment money to do? You don't develop an engine by throwing money at a computer until it makes you one, you use the money to pay your employees who in turn will go on to develop ALL your projects, be they ep3, L4D2 or a new engine. C) How is that in any way evidence of the broken-ness of the AI director? It's the hardest setting. IT'S MEANT TO BE HARD. The whole point of the game is that if you are skilled and work as a team then you should never have to deal with just having one injured last man. If that does happen to you, it's because you weren't good enough and the AI director is punishing you for it. The director is NOT your friend. If he was, he wouldn't be spamming zombies at you every single time you turn the bloody game on.
/unrant Or that they've cancelled Ep3 in favour of HL3. I think I'd pass out right here, right now. What a strange situation. Now that valve are saying that they will offer more support for L4D (as if they wouldn't, L4D2 is still some time away) the haters are still unhappy.
1 year will have passed when L4D2 comes out. A year for petes sake. Thats more than enough time for me to play a game to death.
On topic though it would be cool to have another campaign. Or even another type of special infected (as long as they didn't ruin the balance of the game) I like the source engine. Compare Valve's games with every other company out there, and try and tell me they are not in the very top tier of game development. Yes it is an old engine, but Half Life 2 and its episodic content are in my honest opinion are most breath taking experiences I have ever spent playing a computer game. Half Life 2 is still yet to be topped in my opinion.
I was, like most people, very shocked at the announcement of L4D 2, but I am going to give them the benifit of the doubt and wait and see what they come up with. I own hl 1 and 2 but never seen what people love so much about the second one I didnt even complete it but I guess its all personal taste I had more fun on quake 3 or UT I keep returning to hl2 now and then to see if it grows on me but never does. physics were pretty good for the time and some fun set pieces but the story was just daft. Not wanting to piss people off or get flamed for my choices but its just me. Lady at Game Stop told me L4D1 was going to be on L4D2 still waiting to hear it from Valve though. :? |
