The Maelstrom was widely expected to be the next expansion for WoW, so in conclusion this is World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. 3rd expansion. Could be a financial cataclysm and you just read it wrong. You read it here first... Yep, it is a bit geeky, but good knowledge all the same!! :wink: Umm well it could be a third expansion. Would sort of make sense considering most people have finished the latest expansion and you would have thought Blizzard would have filed for the new MMO before now considering it has been in the making for some time now.
Besides Catacylsm doesn't really sound like a title game name and since speculation has it that their next MMO will not be fanatasy my guess would be an expansion to WOW too. It wont be a new game. Blizzard don't make new games, they make expansion packs. Also some larger expansion packs which they call "sequels", but really it's the exact same game all over again, maybe with better graphics. i bow down to your knowledge dremorack. humbled by your presence:) I felt a burst of nerdy pride swelling in my chest when I read dremorack's comment and understood every word he said :D I don't care about anything to do with Blizzard anymore, not since they made WoW all 'casual'. My next MMO will be Aion: The Tower of Eternity. Finished? Hardly...
At the moment people are working their way through the second major dungeon (Ulduar) of this expansion, and I'm pretty sure there'll be at least two more (Icecrown and one other) before we even get any official word on the next expansion.
I do however agree with the theory that this is probably the title for the next expansion, no doubt they are well into development on it by now. A community manager said back in 2003 the developers were designing content for the Maelstrom.
