Tony Hawk NOT 360 exclusive in UK

Exclusivity deal still being finalised - UPDATE
Reports are doing the internet rounds that Tony Hawk Ride - the one with the plastic skateboard - will be an Xbox 360 exclusive in the UK.

UPDATE: An Activision spokesperson said: "we plan to distribute Tony Hawk: RIDE across multi-platforms". Fair enough.

UPDATE 2: An Activision spokesperson clarified to CVG: "Further to the erroneous information which was distributed this morning regarding Tony Hawk: Ride, we would like to clarify that the game is due to be released on the following platforms: Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and Wii home video game system."

ORIGINAL STORY: Despite this CVG has heard that a possible exclusivity deal in the UK hasn't been finalised, and for now at least Tony Hawk Ride is still set for release on all platforms in the UK.

The game, which comes with a new skateboard peripheral that can detect grabs and movement, is planned for release on PlayStation 3 and Wii.

Of course if the deal goes through, it wouldn't be the first time Microsoft snapped up UK exclusivity for a peripheral-heavy game; Rock Band was signed up to a similar deal when it launched last year.

Sony too recently snapped up Ghostbusters as a PlayStation exclusive in Europe.

Watch the first footage of Tony Hawk Ride in action here.

Activision really ****ed over the Tony Hawk's franchise. It is a franchise though, there always ruined in the end.

Of all the exclusives to waste your money on getting, Microsoft...

Never really been into Tony Hawk or Skate for that matter.

Saw the preview on Gametrailers and that board does look pretty snazzy (very Wii like), though I still dont think ill be purchasing it.

I cant be bothered about Tony Hawk. Skate2 is just better. And that board will be shit. how the hell can you do proper tricks without it breaking and it would be shit doing grabs and the other skateboarding shit

Totally agree with you. I don't think the Tony Hawk's name holds much weight compared to the previous generation, and Skate seems to have stolen his thunder as well.

This is most likely going to be complete bobbins, and what a strange thing to do anyway, spend more money bringing more of the classic Lucasarts franchises to XBLA instead, and if you’re supposed magic wand thingamabob actually surfaces at E3, make sure you can use that as an interface on said games.

Ture. Tony Hawk has been shit for a long time. With Skate out as well it seems like a bit of a waste.

I wont ever be purchasing this unless i won the lottery. I broke my WiiFit how the Fu.ck would this compare.

its an interesting idea. but one that the competition have already done on the wii with skate it. the controls are pretty spot on it does feel as close to skating as you'd want to get in your living room.

If you own a wii why would you bother paying extra for another balance board. The nintendo one can already be used with pretty much every bording game on it.

Reguardless this game will go on to sell well i think. Not in the levels that rockband or guitar hero has but still over a million i'm guessing.

Bobbins, word of the day.

skate is as good as it should b for a skating game, adding peripherals like these is stupid. why dont you just go outside and skate for real?
those were the good old days

MS have no hope of getting an exclusive on this.

I have to say I wasn't impressed with the recently released Tony Hawk footage, especially graphically. It seemed as though there had been no progression with the visuals and also the character movement looked a bit stiff. Sort yourself out Activison.

The board...well, Acti are on this peripheral hunt after the success of Guitar Hero, I'm not too convinced but we'll see. Not going to be on my new game radar and I used to be a skatebaorder.

Honestly it would have bothered me either way.

This game with this peripheral is my least anticipated game ever. Why would u want a skateboard peripheral. Firstly its gonna make it more expensive than skate secondly i cant see it working well.

MS tying up regional exclusives for games would be pointless. All PS3 games, unlike 360 ones, are region free and any deal would soon be gotten around with imports.

That's true. Thing is for Microsoft though, exclusivity deals means a greater presence of their brand in the shops. This is especially the case with games with big peripherals like this, which will inevitably take up a lot of floor space.

If such a deal exists, it won’t mean much for owners of either console, but it would still a cunning move from the big M.
