Wow, this looks tasty. Mmm... Sweet mother of god that looks ****ing brilliant!
Cannot wait to see more shots mind. Oh man, that does look great! I am a bit confused though. This is the third AVP game, right? What has happened to the Gear Box one? Or have I just got myself mixed up?
'lmao' Check back at 4pm for the first trailer! Is it a gameplay video, I don't think I can stomach another teaser. The games industry has gone mental with them. I bet that's a target render or a very photoshopped screenshot. No way will it look that tight in real time. It's most definitely a bullshot, I'd put money on it. in motion too. it gets better and better. THis is the 3rd AVP, the gear box one is colonial marines. New shots and trailer going in now. Screenshots look great, but I'm going with the others to say they will be 'shopped.
Hopefully the trailer is in game, I hate teasers that show you pre-rendered or nothing at all (I'm looking at you Infinity Ward!). They're all heavily touched up. The first one (the corridor) has subtle smoke and lighting effects that mix too softly for any software engine.
The others aren't so obvious, but I think some of the highlights and HDR effects have been enhanced slightly. Not to say that it doesn't still look amazing though :) Thanks WMM.
I take it this is multi platform? Oh wow, those other screenshots look fantastic too.
My only gripe with the first two AVP games was that i found myself using the infrared predator view more than the normal view, which pissed on my mushrooms a bit, as I tended to get a headache after a few hours. my 2 favourite movie franchises (after Star Wars) rolled into one game. surely they can't **** it up,,, can they? With those iconic Alien screams, motion sensor and pulse rifle sound effects this game has the potential to be incredibly atmospheric, and scary too. If the game has a really good balance between chaotic action and nervous exploration it should be a massive hit. Can't wait to see a short clip of this action in motion.
On the old version multiplayer worked really well, at least in terms of alien vs marine. It's one of the few adversarial games that felt as atmospheric as a single player experience. When playing the alien, using the shadows to creap up on marines was amazing fun. Equally, playing the marine, with superior fire power but human frailty made combat scary and exciting.
Personally I never cared for the predator side to this game. By it's very nature this alien is too superior to the others and relies too much on technology rather than wits or skill. Still, it's good that people will have the option to choose a class that suits how they want to play the game. Great pics, disappointing trailer. Anybody know what engine they are using? Just when the predator has picked up that Marine it looks real familiar to crysis haha. I think it's in safe hands at Rebellion. But I suggest we stockpile on torches and pitchforks just in case! :) Not a bad teaser trailer, hope they show a proper one at E3 & if its anything like the 2nd one then this will be something special!!!! Cool, this looks very interesting. I'm especially inteested in this 3 way story. I think I'm going o be playing as the marine, I wanna feel weak and scared. I hope it reminds me of Dead Space. Yeah, I thought that was Rebellion's handiwork. The reviews were dire and I hope this game does a 180 degree turn in comparison. The pics look great and I look forward to seeing the final product.
Here's to hoping SEGA won't pull another "Empire: Total War" stunt whereby you are forced to download the .exe file from Steam (taking several hours after waiting several hours for the "Servers busy, etc." messages to go away) thus negating the whole point of buying the DVD retail version. I don't want to buy games via Steam and if that's the only way I can play this game then I won't be buying it. ****ing teaser trailer. What's the ****ing point?
We know it's coming and that told me nothing. All these game publisher's need to get over themselves and show us actual gameplay so we can actually make up our own minds whether to get excited or not.
It smacks of self importance. I blame Bungie. Seconded at least show a bit of gameplay/in engine stuff not just the title screen.
Glad to hear that CM is hopefully still due at some point. I wonder if you can still play as a Face-hugger.
A few months back they showed shots of them in that other Aliens: Colonial Marines game.
This dev team should also make the face-huggers look like a spread-eagled fath (a type of fath you'd see in your nightmares mind). Imagine those flying at your face?
I suspect some of you lonely geeks would let the thing jump on your faces during a game just so you could see the underside anatomy up close on the screen. What you're supposed to do is shoot the f*cker out of the air sending acid blood spewing all over the place.
Or try pausing the game just before it hits your face to get a good view It shows absolutely nothing...hype maybe to raise the recently depreciated company share price?
Let's see the in-game footage or a playable demo guys...potential and CGI means shit! I just hope in the multiplayer game its balanced. I always took the aliens side even in the films, after all they're the real innocent party here and the predator is the real bad guy. Hopefully the alien will be able to move a lot faster then the other 2 and can climb walls and move along the ceiling and walls at speed to give it some sort of adantage seeing as its the only one unarmed. Now are you being sarcastic here? If not then in the first games the Aliens did just that in MP and SP games I do believe. Well judging by the first AvP game which was also done by Rebellion (the 2nd AvP was done by someone else), I'm pretty sure it should be great.
*beep* *beep* *hsssss* *beep* *beep* *beep*
Um, yeah, that was already done in the first Aliens vs Predator game back in 1999... it's like some people never heard of this classic and the most scary game ever to be released. (I'm looking at you, marine campaign!)
If they'll be able to repeat the atmosphere of marine campaign from the first game from 10 years ago, then you can forget Dead Space. Compared to that, Dead Space is for little kids. (I actually thought it wasn't scary at all and I'm a guy who HATES horror movies cause then I can't sleep properly... but Dead Space was oh-so-predictable with those monsters, I wasn't properly scared by a game since 1999 and the first AvP... I was never able to finish the marine campaign, simply because of fear... >_>) so let me get this straight, there are two avp games coming out - colonial marines and avp? Yes. There are two Aliens games coming out. One with Aliens, marines and predators. One with just Aliens and marines.
Whoever was asking about the Aliens in terms of gameplay. They're just like they are in the movies. They move fast. They run up walls and along ceilings. They can see in the dark. Their two attacks are bite and tail-swipe. They're excellent fun to play. You feel unstoppable playing them. OMG! I cant wait!!!! Pls sega hurry!!!!!! Yes and no. Yes, there are already 2 AvP games out. (and more Aliens games)
No, he's right, there are 2 Aliens games coming out now: Aliens vs Predator and Aliens: Colonial Marines That's what he was asking.
Yes.
3 if you count Obsidian's Aliens RPG, but that game is probably canceled (at least rumors say so) i remember the Jaguar game but that was just single player(unless it worked system link but then how many people had jaguars, i was the only one in my town). i'm hoping the teams are well balanced or the marines are gonna get destroyed. hopefully they'll add in the Predators voice mimicry as well as that would be a great way to taunt prospective kills. "over here" "anytime" » Then you are on the wrong track here mate. I'm talking about the PC Aliens vs Predator game that was developed by Rebellion and released in 1999 and became a classic and one of the scariest games (if not THE scariest game) ever released.
It has nothing to do with jaguar. ;) (I know there's a jaguar version, but I don't think that version matters :P) »»well thats the only one i'd played and it was developed by Rebellion. don't know whether it was a port of the PC original but playing it single player was as boring as hell. I wonder what the point of Colonial Marines is now. Is the fact it's coop-centric really enough to warrant a different game?
I suppose it improves the odds of getting at least one quality game. As a huge Aliens fan I'm sick with my favourite monsters being dragged through the mud. Hopefully the games industry will respect the franchise more than Hollywood's quick and dirty DVD scamathon. looks great, if it can live up to AvP2 or even go beyond it then we'll have a greate game.
Just one thing, does that plot not sound like the AvP film??? No I'm not being sarcastic, I know what the previous games were like I just hope its carried across onto the 360 and PS3. Theres plenty of updated games that were excellent back in the day but their updates have been very poor by comparison, bionic commando (the XBLA and PSN games) spring to mind. |
