Ensemble signs off

Halo Wars dev shuts up shop
Bruce Shelley, Ensemble Studios' main man, has made a final blog post thanking everyone for their hard work on Halo Wars, which has gone gold and is being reviewing around the globe.

"It is hard to believe that the day has finally come when Ensemble Studios closes its doors and we move on to whatever is next. I was employee #4, starting in February of 1995, and will always be grateful to Tony and Rick Goodman for remembering me and getting me involved in what will probably be the defining experience of my career," says Shelley.

"We are working our way through the final week with mixed emotions. We have a lot to be proud of and new opportunities are beckoning, but it is also sad to see this particular great adventure coming to an end.

"Boxes are piled in the hallways for trash; people are giving away games and other stuff they don't want anymore; computers are being wiped; and our corporate IDs are being turned in. Although we will be keeping in touch through some alumni initiatives, many of us may not cross paths again."

Speaking of the future, he notes: "There are at least two new studios being formed by ES employees and I expect both to do very well. There were a lot of outstanding game developers here and it will be interesting to see how and what they do, both individually and as new groups, in the years ahead."

Shelley 's last goodbye? Hopefully not. Read the full post here.

Bye Ensemble :(

pity that previews of Halo Wars have described the game as a pretty bog standard RTS. they just don't work without keyboard and mouse support. hopefully Red Alert 3 on PS3 will feature this and i can finally get back to kicking some commie ass as the 360 ones are near unplayable using a pad if you've been used to playing it on PC.

Lets hope Halo Wars is a hell of a swan song for you guys.

i'm sure it will be. Sad to see them go though.

Another studio down the tubes to satisfy business/shareholder demands.....that's what this recession has taught me- companies will cull anyone and anything they can in order to show their shareholders 'Hey, we're making money!! WE'RE STILL GROWING!!' An unfortunate footnote in the history of a groundbreaking dev. I wish them well.

its a shame that their last game was such a flop

And which game is that - the CURRENTLY UNRELEASED Halo Wars?

Calling you an idiot is insulting to idiots the world over.

And so ends my dream for a sequel to Age of Mythology.

Good luck and all the best for the future, you will be missed :(

I can pretty much guarantee that this game will sell sh*tloads when it comes out. It's got a Halo name on it, so Halo fans will be on it like flies on sh*t.

I still however, cant not beleive that you are Scottish. It must be a lie.

My hopes are that the team regroup as another company.
So much wasted talent.
They will be missed.

Thanks for the many hours of great gaming guys and gals :)

Don't worry, he was talking about Killzone 2. After all, Crimbo has stated in the past that only Xbots play first person shooters.
