I'm Not There Nails It We went into seeing I'm Not There yesterday afternoon kind of expecting to hate it, thinking it would be vague and pretentious and a chore to absorb. But boy were we wrong! The movie avoids many annoying biopic clichés, presenting 6 separate, yet surprisingly straightforward stories based on the life of Bob Dylan. While non-linear, the narratives are complete and engrossing. The film is shot beautifully, and needless to say......

MOVIE: This week's Bryant Park movie is All the Kings Men.... The movie follows the rise of politician Willie Stark from the rural country to the big city spotlight. "Along the way, he loses his initial innocence, and becomes just as corrupt as those who he assaulted before for this characteristic." Romance, women, intrigue, power...it's all there. 5pm seating, Movie at dusk // Bryant Park // Free READING: Alison Weaver (re)tells the story of family......

Opening this past weekend and running through June 30th is Seattle artist Mike Leavitt's "New York Art Army" show. Hand-made action figures were created to visually tell the history of the city's creative scene, the wooden New Yorkers stand alongside other "urban art stars and old masters." Fittingly, the show (exhibited in a site-specific installation) is across the street from the ToyTokyo toy shop, at their Showroom. Leavitt’s “toys” depict famous and controversial artists like......

A look at some noteworthy television this week: 2007 MTV Movie Awards (Sunday, 8 p.m., MTV) All you have to know is that Sarah Silverman hosts, so expect wackiness to ensue. Bonus: LAist will be liveblogging, from the ceremony's greenroom. Creature Comforts (Monday, 8:00 p.m., WCBS 2) An Americanized British import from the creators of Wallace & Gromit where people in on the street interviews are animated in clay in the form of talking animals.......

A look at some noteworthy programs this week: A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (WABC 7, Monday, 8:00 p.m.) The annual showing of this timeless classic Peanuts cartoon is always a must see. Despite being from 1973, the show holds up quite well and is a welcome reminder of simpler times. But would you really eat a Thanksgiving dinner catered by a beagle? He's a Bully, Charlie Brown (WABC 7, Monday, 8:30 p.m.) After the classic Thanksgiving......

Yeesh, there sure are a lot of new movies out this weekend. Choose wisely and you will be well rewarded. In a shameless bid for our "penguins are cute" bias, Warner Brothers releases the animated Happy Feet about singing and tap dancing Emperor Penguins. If only furry black and white birds who rap to Stevie Wonder beats weren't so darn adorable! If you're still in Arrested Development withdrawal, the hilarious Will Arnett stars in Bob......

-- The Friends of the High Line gave cameras to kids and sent them out to photograph Chelsea-- the shots are surprisingly good. -- People think that 311 can tell them if Ray Charles was Stevie Wonder's uncle -- The NY Times story about police-civilian mediation was fascinating (though many people say it's not that great for either side), but it was especially good after reading the story about former deputy commissioner Garry McCarthy's......

Brooklyn Vegan (via Reuters) reports that New York's Hit Factory studio will be turned into condos. The building, which is on West 54th Street between Ninth and 10th, closed in 2005. Prior to that musicians like John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, Madonna and U2 recorded there. This place should be a museum, not someone's $1 million bachelor pad. The seven recording studios and five mastering suites, one space seen above, will now be replaced with kitchens,......

Gothamist has our guacamole and Tostitos with a Hint of LIme (best tortilla chip ever!) and we're ready to see if anything crazy happens during the game. Pre game: Stevie Wonder and friends perform hits of Motown. Joss Stone, India.Arie, John Legend... Gothamist loves Stevie Wonder, but medleys hurt our heads. This is a nod to Detroit's heritage, but let's face it, the Stones are the halftime act because their fans are the attractive-to-advertisers......

So, Howard Stern is on the air - if you happen to get Siruis satellite. Is anyone listening right now? We saw him on Larry King Live, where he explained why his daughter quit the off-Broadway show she was going to be nude in (Stern's claim - the producer betrayed his daughter by saying he wasn't going to publicize Howard Stern's daughter would be naked on stage) and who his best and worst interviews were......

Antony and the Johnsons will play their first NYC show since winning the UK's Mercury Music Prize last month. The past year has seen Antony rise from a relatively unknown eccentric NYC club performer to an international superstar. His headlining show at Carnegie Hall on Thursday, and his upcoming appearance on Letterman, are two signs of his well deserved success. Those attending the Carnegie show will also be treated to a rare opening set......

You know the deal: the stakes are no less than the entire season riding on a single game. The Jets (11-6) visit top-seeded Pittsburgh (15-1) (Saturday, 4:30 p.m., TV: CBS, Radio: 1050 ESPN) in an AFC Divisional Playoff game. For those who haven't been paying attention, Pittsburgh has a rookie quarterback named Ben Roethlisberger (pictured impersonating Stevie Wonder - OK, a joke) who has yet to lose in his first 13 starts,an NFL record. Yes,......

According to the 1976 Village Voice Pazz & Jop Critics' Poll, the Ramones' album, The Ramones, came in at number 8. Coolfer dissects this oddity ("The Ramones. The pride of Queens. The leaders of America's punk movement. An epochal album that was a rallying cry for artists around the word. The best thing since the ball point pen. Number eight.") and sums up the situation, "It goes to show, not even the clued-in New York......
