Bill Clinton was on the talk show circuit yesterday, to promote his Clinton Global Initiative which meets this week. But naturally he discussed the current presidential campaign. The former president told the View ladies that Hillary Clinton wasn't dying to be VP, "She said, 'If [Obama] asks, I'll do it because it's my duty.' She loves being a senator for New York and has more freedom to develop her positions on the issues." But......

Photograph by mobius1ski on Flickr Today's anti-Iran rally, which was to have included politicians but then didn't, attracted thousands of protesters, according to the Jerusalem Post. They gathered across from the United Nations, where the United Nations General Assembly is kicking off; Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is speaking there tomorrow. Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel said, "Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, go home and stay there, we don't want you here. America doesn't want you here. Nobody wants......

After Hillary Clinton bowed out of an anti-Iran rally, which prompted organizers to disinvite Sarah Palin, some people are upset. WCBS 2 reports that the disinvitation was "the result of intense pressure from Democrats"--and it meant all politicians were disinvited, including City Councilman Dov Hikind who said, "This is insulting. This is embarrassing, especially to Gov. Palin, to me and I think it should be to every single New Yorker." Last night, at the State......

Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been disinvited from a rally planned for Monday to protest Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's U.N. visit. Earlier in the week, Hillary Clinton dropped out of the event when Palin was added to the list of speakers. Now rally organizers have asked Palin to stay away, bowing to pressure from Jewish Democrats who argued that her presence would turn the event into a Republican political rally. (The McCain campaign had......

It would have been the first time Senator Hillary Clinton and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin appeared together (for real, not for funny). But once Clinton learned that Palin would be attending the same rally at the U.N., organized by a number of Jewish groups to, per Newsday, "show U.S. opposition to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad," Clinton decided she rather not go. Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines said, "[Palin's] attendance was news to us, and this was......

Saturday Night Live has returned, and their season opener featured Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, a now-pregnant Amy Poehler reprising her role as Hillary Clinton, Lil' Wayne as musical guest and Michael Phelps as the host (who didn't take his shirt off during one sketch, not one!). There's still no word on if Fey will continue her Palin appearances through November (or...post-November?), but she nailed it last night. No word on if the real Sarah......

In Day 2 of the Sarah Palin Interview on ABC, the Republican vice-presidential candidate touched on a number of topics--abortion, earmarks, and Hillary Clinton. Yes--she's bringing up Clinton again, telling ABC's Charlie Gibson that Barack Obama might have second thoughts about his vice presidential pick, "I think he's regretting not picking her now, I do. What, what determination, and grit, and even grace through some tough shots that were fired her way -- she handled......

Senator Hillary Clinton will not give up in her attempts to bring Miladin Kovacevic back to the US in order to face due process. Kovacevic fled the country after being accused of beating Brooklyn's Bryan Steinhauer within an inch of his life this past spring. Since there has not been a great deal of cooperation from Serbian officials in extraditing Kovacevic, Hillary is now trying to pull at the purse strings of the Serbian basketball......

Hillary Clinton will be in Florida tomorrow, as Barack Obama's campaign mobilizes prominent Democratic women to hit the campaign trail on his behalf as the GOP touts Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Clinton appeared at the Labor Day Parade in Midtown yesterday, but she didn't directly critique Palin. The Senator from New York did say, "I slightly amend my comments from Denver. No way, no how, no McCain, no Palin." That's a variation on......

With most of NY's big politicians at the Democratic National Convention in Denver this week, there's a high-profile Republican in the midst--Rudy Giuliani. The former mayor is part of the "Republican attack squad" set up to counter messages coming out of the DNC. The Washington Post found him standing in front of banners saying "A Mile High, An Inch Deep" and "Not Ready '08," using Hillary Clinton's and Joseph Biden's previous criticisms against Barack Obama......

The Democratic Party nominated Barack Obama as its 2008 presidential candidate, making him the first African-American presidential nominee in a major political party. He won the nomination in an emotional moment during the roll call: After New Mexico yielded its place to Illinois during the alphabetical-by-state roll call, Illinois then yielded its place to New York. In the middle of the New York delegation--surrounded by Governor David Paterson, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, Senator Charles Schumer,......

This evening, former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will address the Democratic National Convention in a speech that many hope will unite her supporters with those of presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama. Yesterday morning, Clinton told the New York......

Rudy Giuliani kicked up his anti-Obama rhetoric by slamming Barack Obama's VP pick. He said, "The strong choice would have been Hillary Clinton, the obvious choice would have been Hillary Clinton...It's kind of a no-brainer that that's your ticket." Of course he'd say that: The RNC keynote speaker is continuing along John McCain's campaign strategy of touting Clinton, and why not, since, per a CNN poll, 27% of Clinton supporters are now for McCain.
