The Gotham Awards gala run by the Independent Feature Project (IFP) will be held in Brooklyn for the first time tonight, after 17 years spent bouncing around between Roseland, Hammerstein Ballroom and Chelsea Piers. It's all about Brokeback these days: This morning, Kate Beckinsale, Mark Wahlberg, and Steve Carrell announced the 63rd Annual Golden Globe nominations, and Brokeback Mountain walked away with 7 nominations, including Best Picture (Drama), Director, Actor, Supporting Actress (Michelle Williams). You might have heard that Moore has decided to take Fahrenheit 9/11 out of contention for the best documentary Oscar. We are sort of curious about the real motivation for this. It comes out of one of these camps: A) He's going all in for the Best Film category- why bother with this little niche award, he wants it all.
