Five people trapped in an apartment fire were rescued by firefighters early this morning in East Harlem. The 9 year-old boy who perished in a house fire on Staten Island late Sunday apparently died while trying to save his pets. The Taxi and Limousine Commission has made it official: Cabs purchased after October 1, 2008 must get at least 25 miles per gallon.
