Mayoral and Assembly Election Results 2008On Thursday 1 May 2008 Londoners voted to elect the Mayor of London and the 25 Members of the London Assembly. Mayor of LondonBoris Johnson was elected Mayor of London on 2 May 2008 for a four-year term. The Mayoral results page shows the votes received by the candidates and the total number of votes cast. London AssemblyThe 25 Assembly Members are elected according to a system that is designed to produce a distribution of seats between political parties that is proportional to the total votes cast across London. Fourteen Members represent constituencies - each constituency is an area of London comprising two or three complete London boroughs - and eleven additional members are elected on a Londonwide basis. The Assembly results page lists results for each constituency. The total votes cast per party across London determine how the Londonwide seats are allocated. Results are available for each constituency, and the total votes cast per party across London which determine how many additional seats go to each political party.
