For the second year running, the Food Bank for New York City and the Lunchbox Fund of South Africa have enlisted over 100 celebrities in their holiday fundraiser. Boldface names like Kanye West, Elton John, Cameron Diaz, Mike Meyers, William Wegman and, um, Urban Outfitters, have created personalized, autographed lunchboxes that are now onsale via online auction. At Thursday night's kick-off event at Saatchi & Saatchi, a lunchbox by Michael Stipe was snatched up......

In Los Angeles, LAist most definitely celebrated Thanksgiving like no other. After all, one has to keep up all the energy to keep on walking the line at the Writers Strike and fighting the unfortunate return of the wildfires in Malibu, which single handedly destroyed over fifty homes within the first 24 hours. National outlets may be covering the fires, but CNN also found it is easier to buy a gun than fruit and......

The nicer the weather gets, the busier we get across the Ist-A-Verse. But we like being busy. Here's a peek at what we've been up to since last week! Chicagoist had an interview with Audrey Niffenegger, whose popular book, The Time Traveler's Wife, was based in their fine city. They also had a heated discussion about Rush Limbaugh's controversial Barack Obama parody, talked about whether Uncle Julio's Hacienda is a good place to get......

There's so much going on across the Ist-a-Verse that it's almost impossible to keep track these days. Fortunately, we do it so you don't have to! Londonist took a walk through Oliver Twist's London, thanks to a gorgeous map layer for Google Earth. They also caught up with modern-day fictional London, with the Fantastic Four and 28 Weeks Later. It was a week of insanity over at DCist. They started the week off with......

The nice weather always seems to bring about crazy events, like tonight's Love Ahoy party. That's right, tonight the S.S. Hot Yacht will be docked at Galapagos and filled with bachelors, ladies and some of your favorite locals. Imagine, if you will, the Love Boat hosting the Dating Game - and you've got Love Ahoy. The game show where three dudes compete for the title of "First Mate". Hosted by Jake Stronghorn, the "Red Hot......

Do you have one of those hamburger-crazy friends who is very hard to shop for, this side of wrapping a pound of ground sirloin with a ribbon? If you do, then we highly recommend you check out O'Neill's Hamburger of the Month Club. Coming from what might be the best press release ever to include how hamburgers and beer can be gifted over a calendar year, Gothamist learned that you can get a friend a......

Gothamist was cautiously excited, when we learned that a brand-new barbeque joint, Pig 'n Out, was opening in Brooklyn Heights. Now that the Henry Street spot has been operational for a few weeks, it seemed time we put their 'cue to the test. The menu is expansive, but we managed to narrow the field: - Tommy's Red Hot Chicks (Pig n' Out's spicy smoked chicken wing offering) - St. Louis Style Baby Back Ribs -......

Enticed by the ethereal Yoshio Taniguchi redesign and free admission, New Yorkers waited hours before the MoMA officially reopened, rock concert style, to be among the first to dance around one of the most comprehensive collections of modern art around. An estimated 15,000 visitors passed through the doors, and Gothamist is enjoying the local papers' coverage, from rapturous glee to architectural criticism (it's like "white bread and mayonaise"), from bickering with guards to gripes......

It's official, Mark Romanek is my favorite video director. His video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Can't Stop," is fantastic: It's very stripped down for a RHCP video, with the bandmembers interacting with pieces that are "inspired by" the "One-minute Sculptures" of Erwin Wurm, an Austrian artist. What probably helps is that the RHCP peppers song is simpler and less busy than other ones (which is why the video is a great match). It's......
