It may have taken a few extra hours, but the Mets finally got their man. The Mets and Johan Santana agreed to a six-year, $137.5 million contract, with a club option for a seventh year. When the Mets and Twins agreed to the trade on Tuesday, Major League Baseball gave the Mets and Santana until 5 p.m. Friday to reach a deal. With the deadline approaching yesterday, but no agreement reached, the two sides asked......

The Mets have finally landed a much needed arm to lead their rotation. USA Today is reporting that the Minnesota Twins and the Mets have agreed to terms for pitcher Johan Santana. The two-time Cy Young winner comes to the Mets at a high cost, with the Mets delivering outfielder Carlos Gomez and pitchers Phil Humber, Deolis Guerra and Kevin Mulvey to the Twins. Conditions of the deal include the Mets and Santana reaching agreement......

Yankees 7 Minnesota 6: The Yankees showed some grit Thursday, overcoming another lousy start from Kei Igawa and a lack of clutch-hitting to get the win. Things looked great in the first couple of innings as New York rebounded from a two-run deficit take a 5-2 lead thanks to home runs from Cano and Cabrera. But, Igawa was awful again, giving the lead back in the fourth by allowing three runs to score with two......

Mets 8, Twins 1: The Mets went 16 days between wins that came on days other than a Friday. What does that prove? Nothing, except that they hadn't been winning that frequently. John Maine put together a good start Monday, however, and the Mets followed suit. Carlos Delgado improved on his .290 on-base percentage by going 2-for-4 with a home run. The other half of Brothers Carlos, Carlos Beltran, took until the eighth inning to......

Mets 2, Yankees 0: Poof! Just like that, the Mets' five-game losing streak and the Yankees' nine-game winning streak have been snapped. Oliver Perez shut down the Yankees for the second time this season, and Roger Clemens was good but not good enough in the loss. Jose Reyes and Carlos Gomez -- the two Mets speedsters and fans of untucking their jerseys within seconds of the final out -- supplied the two Mets runs.......

Yankees 6, Red Sox 5: Alex Rodriguez really makes himself the center of attention, doesn't he? The Yankees third baseman hit a go-ahead home run off Jonathan Papelbon in the top of the ninth to give the Yankees a comeback win in Boston. The Yankees blew a 4-0 lead and trailed, 5-4, entering the eighth, but they managed to win the game and the series in Boston. They're still 12 1/2 games out of first......

Mets 6 Florida 2: El Duque came off of the DL and looked as if he had discovered an elixir of youth. For six innings he kept the Marlins completely off-balance, striking out four and allowing only one hit. The problem was Florida’s pitchers were also shutting down the Mets. That all changed in the ninth. After trading runs in the eighth, the Mets started the inning with Delgado earning a walk. Carlos Gomez came......
