On Friday Gothamist visited the set of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Undead, a bizarre little indie shooting in the East Village. The movie is a sequel of sorts to Tom Stoppard’s hilarious existential comedy Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, but with “sexy vampires, the Holy Grail and Hamlet.” Jake Hoffman (son of Dustin), who appeared on some Arrested Development episodes, is a broke, frustrated ladies man who jumps at the chance to direct an......

MUSIC: If you aren't at your local hometown bar this Thanksgiving-eve, drinking with old high school buddies -- we suggest a sonic alternative. Tonight The Hold Steady and Art Brut do their best at making Terminal 5 feel a little bit cozier this holiday season. Buy tickets here. 7:30pm // Terminal 5 [610 W 56th St] // $30 MUSIC MOVIES: If you're sick and tired of the bands playing around town, go check out two......

You may know Vincent Gallo best from his amazing movie Buffalo66, or his excretable movie Brown Bunny, or from his 1980s career as a musician and famous painter, or from leaning against that wall opposite Cafe Havana on Elizabeth Street, staring moodily into space. Now, courtesy of his website, you can take some of that magic and put it where you've always wanted it: in your womb! Funny parts in bold: Price includes all costs......

If you missed out on tickets to the Futureheads tonight there are still a lot of other great shows this week. Tonight we suggest the Epochs. We were handed their cd upon leaving the Arcade Fire show at Irving earlier this month. Upon listening we discovered some uncomparable eclectic electro-acoustic-pop (say that 3 times fast). They play at the Knitting Factory tap bar tonight at 10:30 (for free). Before they go on check out Mommy......

Chicagoist has the scoop on the R.Kelly video shooting on the Chicago River, which involved a boat, lots of scantily clad women, and some bumping music. Gothamist can just imagine the director's pitch, "It's Big Pimpin', but in Chicago - dig it?" This makes Gothamist wonder why there aren't more videos in NY on Circle Line Cruises, the Staten Island Ferry, or the Water Taxi. For some reason, it's always a flatbed truck that goes......

No one will ever be able to truly replace Jerry Orbach on Law & Order, but the casting folks are definitely working in the right vein to maintain the aura of wise-cracking, seen-it-all detective if early reports are true. Apparently, Dennis Farina is in talks to join Law & Order. This is fabulous, as Dennis Farina is one of the greatest character actors around. Disregarding the stupid NBC sitcom and work-for-hire roles, his bread and......

Jesus, even the Post is writing about how Friendster is passe, including the Casey Spooner quote about how it is "dead" for him: "I found myself wasting hours of much-needed creative time obsessively rolling through profile after profile. I felt a great weight lifted off my back." The article also mentions Friendster alternatives, Fiendster, Friendsterpimp, Introvertster, and Fallen Friendster. Where's FriendsterSlut? When someone forms that site, let us know. And sctually Gothamist is more suspicious......
