With Tina Fey gone from the writers' staff to primetimier pastures and Chris Parnell, Horatio Sanz and Finesse Mitchell axed from the staff, people were wondering how this season of Saturday Night Live would stack up. And while articles calling it "Saturday Night Dead" are a mainstay every fall, Gothamist wasn't very confident given that the host would be Dane Cook, who already hosted not even a year ago! Here's our thoughts about the......

This month InFocus has a good interview with Harold Ramis, the polymath actor/writer/comedian behind Caddyshack, Stripes, and our favorite NYC movie of all time, Ghostbusters, this side of anything involving the subway. Ramis discussed ideas for Ghostbusters 3, the sequel that never got made, where Peter, Ray and Egon would go to hell.He does tend to think big [referring to Dan Ackroyd's idea that hell would extremely special effect driven] when he’s writing these, doesn’t......

With just two new episodes so far this season, the NY Post wonders if Saturday Night Live is really dead. It's a good, if evergreen question. Horatio Sanz is certainly no Tina Fey during Weekend Update, though Gothamist has been impressed he's been able to hold it together this long. With Maya Rudoph's pregnancy, it seems like most sketches with a female character involve Amy Poehler (who rules, but maybe she needs a break). There......

Hello, nurse: It's the Age of Fey and Poehler, as they are the first all-female Weekend Update team on Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon had a nice chemistry - you know, sharp, caustic and riffing on how Jimmy was stupid and pretty and Tina was slutty and angry - but we were feeling Fallon Fatigue, as he couldn't really keep his shizzle together during skits, especially ones with Horatio Sanz. So......

Oh, thank you, Donald Trump and Mark Burnett - it's just like sweeps night - but in April! Tonight's finale of The Apprentice will not only that someone will get hired but also ensure that The Donald and his questoinable hair stay in the spotlight until next season. (If Donald, George, and Carolyn were basing their decision on hair, they should go with Kwame. As rachelle noted, Bill has to get rid of that flattop.)......

With many shows that "suck," NBC will premiere Tracy Morgan's sitcom, The Tracy Morgan, in the Tuesday 8PM time slot on December 2. Take a look at NBC's description of The Tracy Morgan Show: Morgan stars in the sharp-edged family comedy as father, husband and small-business owner Tracy Mitchell, who, with his beautiful, no-nonsense wife Alicia (Tamala Jones, Head of State), share their modest apartment with their two kids, 13-year-old Derrick (Marc John Jefferies, The......

The best thing about Virginia Heffernan's New Yorker profile of Tina Fey, besides feeding our Tina-Fey-starved minds, is the breakdown of the different comedy styles of SNL performers and writers: Second City (Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, Rachel Dratch, Amy Poehler, Horatio Sanz) - known for their aesthetic perfectionism Groundlings (Laraine Newman, Chris Farley, Will Ferrell, Julia Sweeney, Maya Rudolph, Chris Kattan) - creation of vivid and eccentric characters Harvard Lampoon (Dennis......

Adrien Brody will be hosting Saturday Night Live on May 10th. Gothamist guesses that there were be some bit about him kissing...he'll kiss Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Tina Fey, then the "funny" comes in when he kisses the SNL dudes, like Jimmy Fallon, Horatio Sanz, and Chris Kattan, maybe even Lorne. Gothamist won't bother to find any of the latest slash fiction about Adrien Brody and [insert actor here] but we will develop......
