Gowanus Lounge points out the upside-down school bus roaming the streets of Brooklyn lately, and Brooklynians are abuzz about it. The White House Organic Farm Project explains--the group just purchased the Topsy Turvy bus from Ben & Jerry's own Ben Cohen, and tonight they invite one and all to "come support our version of Community Supported Agriculture." A little late notice, but if you can't make it you could still buy a share in TheWhoFarm......

This morning, President Bush is addressing the 62nd United Nations General Assembly. He is expected to discuss "global fight against terrorism, tyranny and poverty," as well as sanctions against Myanmar in support of the protest organized by Buddhist monks. However, he will only mention Iran briefly, and will opt to cover "broad themes." A White House spokesman said, "The president wanted this speech to focus on many other issues that are facing the world......

Fire Department staging is at East 65th Street; expect lots of traffic diversions in that area. Update: The Times is reporting that Con Ed was in the building next door, investigating a gas leak, when the explosion occurred. The White House......

All told, hundreds of millions in programs for social services (day care, literacy training, elderly services), police officers, and poverty reduction are gone. And there are new procedures that will make getting money harder, for affordable housing all the way to Homeland......

The State of the Union Address was given by President Bush last night (text here). Gothamist decided to take a pass on watching, because we were worried about hurting the TVs. As far as we know, adjusting the payroll tax is not what the President wants to do with Social Security - he wants to make sure we work longer. Or something. And our country is confident blah blah blah. And forget about the Democratic......

In an annual Thanksgiving Day event, President Bush pardoned a turkey at the White House earlier this week. His two jokes from the event: On how the turkeys "Stars" and "Stripes" (the alternate) won out over "Cranberry" and "Pumpkin": It was a neck-to-neck race.On the presence of an alternate turkey: The rule book states that an alternate turkey is chosen in case the national Thanksgiving turkey cannot fulfill his role in this ceremony. It's kind......
