#1 I have a coworker who is running the marathon on Sunday. Where are some good locations to cheer the runners on? #2 Is there a better map of the course out there? The official map is missing an amazing amount of information about the actual roads of the course? The ING New York City Marathon is one of the world's great road races, attracting more than 90,000 applicants from all over the world.......

Tonight is the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, which is why today is a gridlock alert day. The WNBC Channel 4 Christmas Tree page and tree cam now has music, as they count down till 7PM. We're sure crowds are already at Rockefeller Center, breathlessly awaiting Al Roker, Sheryl Crow, Il Divo, Carrie Underwood, Il Divo and the Goo Goo Dolls, but the other way to watch is to tune in at 7PM and......

With just one week to go before New Yorkers head to the polls, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Fernando Ferrer are turning up the heat with their ads, and we just say, "Finally!" While we're totally weary of the Corzine-Forrestor NJ gubernatorial negative advertising (okay, we get it: Forrester isn't for stem cell research and Corzine dated a union head), Gothamist has been totally numbed by the neverending waves of Bloomberg ads, with a touch of......

According to WNBC Channel 4, the skinny kid from Brooklyn, Anthony Weiner, will concede the primary election to Fernando Ferrer at noon. That disappointed sigh is not from the Weiner campaign but from Mayor Bloomberg's campaign workers who wanted Weiner and Ferrer to battle it out for the next few days. This, though, is a nice sign of unity for the city's Democratic Party.......

With the harrowing (and crazy - you've seen the looting video) news footage of Katrina's wake in Louisianna and Mississippi and Louisiana governor's announcement that everyone must leave New Orleans, New Yorkers have been working to help out the affected, whether by heading down there or helping raise money. Matt at Dorking Out had some suggestions about the best way to rebuild New Orleans, as in a floating megacity and references how on the Simpsons,......

Considering that Gothamist can't remember a day when WNBC anchors Chuck Scarborough and Sue Simmons weren't anchoring the evening news, it shouldn't come as a suprise that they are celebrating their 25th anniversary of working together. But, damn, that means we're getting old. Scarborough has been at WNBC for 30 years, while today is Simmons' 25th anniversary (check out her slide show). Newsday's Verne Gay calls them "One of the great anchor teams in New......

If Thanksgiving is over, then Christmas trees all around the city must be lit. Here are three events the Daily News notes: - Tonight, the holiday tree at Lincoln Center will be lit. ABC 7's Sam Champion is hosting the event, which will feature high wire artist Pedro Carrillo, Sr., walking a tightrope across Lincoln Center's plaza and Mickey Mouse helping throw the switch to illuminate the 50 foot tree. Also, there are free saplings......

December 3, 2003

Right, so Gothamist was totally crazed yesterday got our dates mixed up. Today is the Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center, where you can freeze your buns off with hundreds, probably thousands, more. Or you can watch it at home at 7PM on WNBC Channel 4, and be all warm and settled in to change the channel to Fox Channel 5 watch The Simple Life at 8:30PM and The O.C. at 9PM. Sigh, we......
