Oil Pump
- Verify Both O-rings are in good condition and in place,
if not replace with Part Number 93210-13361-00
- Install the oil pump and give it a little tap to seat
it
- Secure using allen heads as shown.
|
Shift Head (segment)
- Install the shift star or shift head, yamaha calls it
a segment. Move the roller assembly up and out of the
way
- The shift head is keyed and will only go on one way
- Install the "shift pin" bolt and tighten.
it will shift though the gears and eventually stop. Dont
strong arm it however.

- Install the Shift head and Shift Guide as one piece,
its kinda a pain in the ass and its best to leave the
little bushing off until you get everything installed.
You will have to slide the shift head inside the guide
while pinching the catches into the shift head. Be very
careful not to lose the Springs
- Install the spring on the "alignment lever"
or the thing with the roller on it. Its best to put the
spring on the lever first THEN onto the post in the case.
- Reinstall the bushing onto the shift head in the manner
shown
|
Install the Shift Shaft Assembly as shown(be sure not to forget
the washer that is installed on the shift shaft first - Thanks
Mike L! for noting this). Make sure the spring is as shown in
the picture and the end is on the bushing connected to the shift
head. You can try and shift the tranny through some gears using
channel locks on this side, I dont recommend putting anything
other than the shifter on the splined part of the shift lever,
it could chew the splines and set up problems down the road.
The lever has to be moved very far and will be difficult to
do without an extra pair of hands to hold the motor.
It may not shift very smooth at this point since the
motor is not turning, you cant put enough force on the
shifter and the tranny is not lubricated or broken in.

Oil Pump Gear
- Inspect the oil pump gear for broken or damaged teeth
- Install the gear on the pump
- Install the circlip (I recommend using a new clip,
when I compared the old and the new, I could tell the
old was worn and weaker and would not have held with
as much tension as the new.)
