It is best to use a new Circlip when they are removed.
When I compared the old and new by putting them on top
of each other I could see the old has lost its shape somewhat.
|
The diagrahm at the right shows the placement of the
circlip on the shaft, notice that on the circlip (#2)
the one edge is beveled. I could not notice a bevel on
mine but yamaha recommends putting it this way if you
do find that the circlip has a beveled inside edge

Reverse Gear Case placement
Install the Drive Gear 1 (reverse counter gear) and shaft
into its bore in the case. You will have to pull the Drive
axle out slightly to clear the gear.
Make sure it seated fully, you may have to turn the shaft
to get it to drop in since it is "keyed" to
only fit one way
Make sure the oil jet holes are directed toward the drive
axle, this is what lubricates the shift fork journals.
