Capstone Event of the Air Force 60th Anniversary Celebrations

Aviation Nation is almost here! This year's spectacular Air Show takes place at Nellis Air Force Base, Saturday-Sunday, November 10-11 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and will be the capstone event of the U.S. Air Force's 60th Anniversary celebrations.

One of the largest aviation events in North America, Aviation Nation had over 142,000 attendees in 2006 and over 150,000 people are expected this year. Presented by the U.S. Air Force and Nellis Air Force Base this annual event is free to the public.

Heritage to Horizons
The theme of the 2007 Aviation Nation is Heritage to Horizons, celebrating the U.S. Air Force's legacy of air and space power as well as the 60th anniversary of the Air Force.

Aerial Demonstrations
Nellis Air Force Base's own U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the renowned Thunderbirds, are the featured aerial demonstration at Aviation Nation in what will be be their last show of the season. Other aerial demonstrations will include the historic Warbirds, and the Air Force's present-day fighters, bombers and transports, including the new F-22A. Static displays of historic and modern-day planes will be on the Show grounds as well.

Taste of Freedom
A Taste of Freedom will bring local restaurants onto the Base during both days of the Air Show, providing food and beverage services for event spectators to purchase and enjoy during Aviation Nation.

Air Show Tips

  • Wear sunscreen and sunglasses.
  • Wear a hat and comfortable shoes.
  • Ear plugs are advised as it can be noisy.
  • No smoking, alcohol, pets or weapons allowed. There will be designated smoking areas, away from the planes.
  • Bring your camera.
  • Bring a small folding lawn chair or blanket.
Directions
General parking for Aviation Nation is located near Nellis Air Force Base at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, (I-15 North to Exit 54 - Speedway Blvd. The Speedway is about 12 miles north of downtown Las Vegas. Enter the Blue Parking Lot.)

A shuttle service from the Speedway to the Air Show is available for a $3 donation/person, ages 10 and above, for this round-trip bus transportation. For kids under 10, $1 per child is requested. Babies/toddlers that don't require a seat ride free. This donation is made to the Aviation Nation Foundation, non-profit private organization chartered to support the Air Show. Handicapped parking is available at the Speedway and special-needs buses will be provided.
