well im thinking of buying a new set, but im stuck between a pearl export 8 piece or a mapex 8 piece.

the mapex is $100 more but instead of a 14 and 16 inch floor toms it comes with 16 and 18

im not really sure which one i want.

i really like both brands but i cant decide.

ohh well ive got sometime im not gonna have the money for a while Rolling Eyes

the export will have good support in terms of hardware.... but be samey. what's the mapex kit? Q, V, Pro M? If it's a Q, I'd go either way, if it's a V series or up, go the Mapex. some of the boomiest toms around with unreal overtones, and snares go 'crack'!

I'd suggest getting a higher end kit (Mapex/ Sonor. Very Happy) with less drums.

i'd probably agree with that, unless it's a four piece! Wink if you get an export though, you'll have the same damn kit as everyone else.

what wood in the mapex ? ? ?

I see no reason to not mapex if it is birch or maple. Their hardware have improved the last years.
