100% ADSL coverage in North East by March 2005

Posted: Friday 23rd January 2004 by Sam
It was announced this morning by BT Wholesale and One NorthEast that all non-ADSL enabled exchanges in the North East would be enabled by March 2005. The project is costing in excess of £10 million.

Tony Blair himself was on hand to witness the switch-on of his local Exchange (Trimdon). Both the Prime Minister and Ben Verwaayen praised the hard work of the Trimdon Digital Village project, and all other broadband campaigners.

Anyway, the RFS dates for the exchanges are as follows. Please note: Only those in phase one have firm dates (which should appear on the checkers shortly) - The others will have firm dates released later on.

Anyway, sorry for not posting that news until now - I was finishing my last (!) exam :-)

Also, fresh off the rumour mill, I hear that other RDA's are looking at a similar approach.
