Bulldog launch their ADSL2+ service

Posted: Sunday 30th April 2006 by Sam
After undergoing months of trials and forming the basis of endless speculation, Bulldog have finally launched their ADSL2+ services. Touted at running at 16Mbps downstream, with 1Mbps upsteam, the service is available at all of Bulldog's unbundled exchanges (according to Bulldog's FAQ).

It's still unclear as to whether Bulldog are capping the product at 16Mbps or just stating that as it is unlikely that many will receive faster than that. Other providers, such as Be offer ADSL2+ at up to 24Mbps, although it is true that only a relatively small portion of users will ever sync at that rate.

In other LLU news, Bulldog have pushed back their next batch of LLU exchanges for the third month running to the end of May. Be are continuing to enable a few exchanges each week, and have now unbundled a total of 130 exchanges with a further 324 in the pipeline. I've also posted a Tiscali LLU exchange list on the site. I also now have data for 1018 exchanges unbundled by Carphone Warehouse, but am still awaiting a response from them before publishing it.

Update (8pm): I've put together a graph showing the deployment of LLU over time, firstly up to todays date and secondly up to the end of the year (based upon providers enablement dates).
