All Scottish communities to receive broadband by the end of 2005

Posted: Tuesday 1st June 2004 by Sam
The Scottish Executive has today announced that it will be providing affordable broadband to all Scottish communities by the end of 2005. BT's planned rollout scheme (to be completed by Summer 2005) will deliver coverage to 95% of Scotlands population, but it will still leave 400 exchanges in the dial-up days.

It is unclear exactly how the Scottish Executive plan to deliver broadband to these areas, although it is thought likely to involve a combination of ADSL, wireless and satellite connections.

The full announcement can be found here.
