Scottish islands receive their date for broadband

Posted: Wednesday 28th April 2004 by Sam
Following the announcement last October that BT Scotland were teaming up with THUS to provide broadband to Stornoway, Kirkwall and Lerwick, BT have today announced that all three exchanges will go live on May 26th.

BT are leasing wireless connectivity from THUS between their mainland network and the islands. It seems that the work, which will provide broadband to potentially 4700 people in Stornoway, 4300 in Kirkwall and 4200 in Lerwick is nearing completion.

The press release, which has not yet found its way to the BT press page, is available here.
