Blueyonder goes even faster - for free!

Posted: Monday 26th April 2004 by Paul
Fresh off the news press, Blueyonder are to give 50% extra bandwidth to all customers for nothing extra. It seems they are wishing to lead the way against BT's ADSL offerings when only a few weeks ago BT announced the Home 2000 trial.

The Blueyonder services will be re-graded as below:

Old SpeedNew SpeedPrice per month
512Kbps768Kbps£27.99
1Mbps1.5Mbps£37.99
2Mbps3Mbps£52.99

(All prices based upon the assumption that you do not purchase any other Telewest services)

By the end of May, all 512k, 1Mb & 2Mb customers will be automatically upgraded, enabling them to go 50% faster. The 256Kb service will not be part of the 50% faster deal. The upstream speeds will remain the same as present (128Kbps for 512Kbps, 256Kbps for the other two). There appears to be no download cap on any of these services.

Time scales attached can be found here.
Nothing showing as yet but I would expect so in the next few days.

A map detailing the availability of Telewest Broadband is available here (Word Document).

For those wanting more information, the BBC article has numerous quotes from both Telewest and NTL people. It also states that NTL will be performing similar free upgrades on their packages in the near future. The original Blueyonder page detailing the plans can be found here.
