A few new developments

Posted: Sunday 11th April 2004 by Sam
I've implemented a few addtions and changes to the site in the past few days.

Firstly, I've reclassified exchanges with provisional RFS dates from "Waiting for RFS date" to "With RFS date". This is because nearly 25% of all RFS dates are now provisional, so it made sense to treat them similarly now. The modified ADSL league tables still allow for a distinction between firm and provisional dates to be made.

Given the large number of provisional dates now, Andrew from Penshurst suggested a pie chart to compare the number of firm dates against the number of provisionals. This new chart can be found by clicking here, or by clicking on the "RFS spread summary" on the menu.

As promised, I've also added additional graphs to the triggering statistics page. The new graphs now show running averages for both two and four week intervals. Thanks to David from Brent Knoll for this one!

The bulk registration system has also been updated. This now uses the same method as the singular registration page, however, registrations are not sent in realtime as with the singular system. Instead they are sent at 1am each day in bulk. Unfortunately it is impractical to send bulk registrations in realtime, due to the fact that BT's FastPRoBE system can get quite busy during the day, and can sometimes produce errors as a result. The big advantage to this update is that the user can enter an email address before sending the registrations. The results of the registration submissions will be sent to that email afterwards. See the bulk registration page for more details.

I've also added availability data for HomeChoice's LLU service. See the league tables for the data.

A few people have been requesting a backend interface to the Availability Checker. I've now made one and it's available on request. Broadband Buyer have already implemented it (see the "Check for broadband" panel on the right hand side of their front page).

Finally, I have also been updating the FAQ with some more up-to-date and relevant questions! If you have any suggestions for that, you know where to send them! (Hint: here!)
