Phooking - Just say NO!

Posted: Sunday 4th April 2004 by Sam
There have recently been growing concerns over the levels of "phooking" involved in the ADSL pre-registration scheme.

For those not familiar with the terminology, phooking (aka phone booking) is the process of picking phone numbers and postcodes from the phone book and entering them into one of the online registration forms. Not only is this wrong, it is also extremely unfair on the hard working campaigners who meet their trigger levels legitimately.

So whilst only very, very few campaigns are involved in such practices, it is detrimental to the entire scheme. It is also true that BT thoroughly investigates claims of phooking. The following is a quote from BT, regarding the alleged phooking of an exchange (these particular claims now appear to be false).

"If BT finds that a "Phooking" campaign was conducted they will deal with this exchange appropriately. Anyone who has any evidence that may prove that this campaign has been conducted in this way should email Gareth.Norris@BT.Com so that the investigation can be completed as soon as possible."

So in summary - just say no!
