BT Wholesale deployment team responds to cries for RFS dates

Posted: Tuesday 16th March 2004 by Sam
Donna Young, General Manager of Broadband Britain (BT Wholesale) has written an open email to campaigners after frustration over the RFS date situation peaked today.

In the email she states that since the November 17th announcement of 2300 new trigger levels, over 1000 exchanges have met their trigger. As we already know, they did not anticipate this level of demand. It seems that they had expected the demand to tail off after Christmas though:

"At Christmas we felt the huge surge in registrations was a bow-wave resulting from the November 17 announcement. That momentum has continued with a huge response to the targets set and the rate of exchanges triggering has not eased. So despite the extremely hard work by all our teams we have not yet caught up with the backlog."

She finishes the email by saying that "By the end of March we hope to be able to set out our plans to deal with the unprecedented acceleration in the broadband programme...". It will be interesting to see what exactly these plans are. Still, only two weeks until we find out!

However, last weeks RFS dates were not mentioned in the email. We still have no idea when to expect their arrival, although today is looking increasingly unlikely now.
