How to find information about individuals who served in these regiments and corps

Units are listed in order of precedence on the eve of independence and partition between India and Pakistan. Their national disposition at partition is shown in the right margin. Artillery, engineers, signal and support units were partitioned on the same 2:1 ratio as the rest of the army. Infantry regiments omitted their numbers in Oct. 1945 (with the exception of the Punjab regiments); their 1922 numbers are shown in brackets as a prefix. Infantry regiments formed after 1922 were not numbered.
