René’s message
August 13, 2007
Year
49 of the Revolution
Dear
Fidel,
It
has been one year since your people celebrated this
date, each in their own trench, serene and willing
to continue constructing the project to which you
have dedicated your fruitful existence.
From the lineage of Titans

Year
49 of the Revolution
Dear
Fidel,
This
past year has been one of great optimism and joy,
following your virtuous daily struggle for life and
complete recuperation. We feel deeply proud to have
as Comandante a giant among Titans, one of
those who never abandon a battle, never give up
their dreams. You are our best example and guide.
René
González’ moral fortitude highlighted
THE moral fortitude of René
González is the major impression that the Cuban patriot left
with Sebastian Paulmier, a young U.S. citizen who was recently
able to visit him in the prison in which he is held in the
United States.
It is our pride
and honor to belong

Comrades:
I read your heartfelt letter with
much pleasure and more, with an elevated sense of
pride in the honor that you confer on us in each
phrase and each expression.

DOESN’T
it seem strange that a case with so many ingredients
for a film, a best seller or a high-profile news
item is unknown in the United States?
What
Were They Protecting Us From?
In 1996 Noam Chomsky remarked that
"Cuba was the target of more international terrorism than
probably the rest of the world combined". The following
list published in the web site antiterroristas.cu is just a part
of the terrorism directed against Cuba over the last 40 years.

AT LAUNCH OF BOOK OF CARTOONS BY ONE
OF THE IMPRISONED CUBANS
Love and humor can do anything
PRESIDENT Fidel
Castro presided over the launch of a book of cartoons by Gerardo
Hernández, one of the five Cubans imprisoned in the United
States on alleged charges of threatening that country’s
national security.

from Gerardo and his four comrades
The
Days of Gerardo Hernandez in the United States Federal Prison at
Lompoc
FOR millions of
Cubans, the living conditions of the Five Cuban Political
Prisoners being held in U.S. prisons is one of their greatest
preoccupations.

severe imprisonment in the jails of a nation where hostility
against our own is obvious with its authorities.

SHE’S not
tired or disheartened. Only one moment of sadness glistened in
her eyes, like a small patch of nostalgia, when she looked at
the postage stamps she would send Antonio in prison, as if
through those images he would be released into the world to
which he certainly belongs.
Ours may be one of
the most ridiculous accusations of espionage in the history of this country
Defense statement presented by Gerardo Hernández Nordelo,
december 12, 2001
Your Honor:
I would like first of all to express a few words of thanks to a number of federal
government officials who worked throughout our long and complex trial, both inside and
outside this courtroom. I am referring to the translators, stenographers, marshals and
other assistants, who showed a high professional ethic ...

Defense statement presented by Ramón Labañino
Salazar, december 13, 200
Your Honor, ladies and gentlemen:
First of all, I join in all of the arguments put forward by my four brothers in this case
and in my recognition of the professional behavior of the officials in this court:
Richard, the translators, the marshals, and Lisa. The criminal attacks on the Twin Towers
in New York and the Pentagon in Washington took the lives ...

I have no reason to
repent
Defense statement presented by René González
Sehweret, december 14, 2001
Before I begin, I would like to propose an experiment
to those present in the courtroom today: close your eyes, and imagine that you are in
downtown New York. Now, when the first firefighter comes along, look him straight in the
eye, very seriously, and tell him to his face that nothing happened on September 11. That
it is all a lie.

Defense statement presented by Fernando González
Llort december 18, 2001
Your Honor:
I share with my comrades who have preceded me here in their recognition and gratitude for
the professional behavior of Richard, the translators who have worked so efficiently, and
the U.S. Marshals. I also share in what has been expressed here by every one of my
brothers at their sentencing hearings.

Act in silence
Defense statement presented by Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez,
december 27, 2001
Your Honor,
Allow me to say that I share everything that has been said in this courtroom by my four
brothers in arms: Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labaniño, René González and Fernando
González. They spoke with dignity and courage to the Court.

started on September 12, 1998, at about 5:30 a.m. at home.
That's where they arrested us and took us to the FBI
headquarters in Miami for an interview designed to `convince' us
to collaborate and betray, in return for certain promises.
