Mary Kay Letourneau first met Vili Fualaau in 1989 when she was 27 and he was a student in her second-grade class in Shorewood Elementary School, in a suburb of Seattle, WA. The boy and Letourneau developed a friendship that continued even when she was his teacher again in the sixth grade. Their relationship reportedly became sexual as he entered the seventh grade.
