It does make you wonder if anyone from Sony or MS read any internet forums (such as the marvellous one to which I am currently typing )

That's rich! If I remember correctly, Sony has always stated numbers shipped instead of numbers sold with PS2 and especially PSP. That's calling the kettle black 
And that comment about 200+ million users/owners of previous systems deciding if they have the DNA bla bla bla. It will be the actual number of people who buy the PS3 that will determine that, not past sales. That would be like Nintendo saying the Wii's success will be decided by the total number of sales of all the previous consoles they have sold in the past.

I think what he's trying to say is that if they say sold, they mean sold and if they say shipped, they mean shipped. He's trying to say that Microsoft has got them mixed up, which Sony apparently doesn't do.  |

Can't this be a good thing?
Who is to say that either Sony or Microsoft won't eventually take action and try and 'sweeten the deal' somehow, for us consumers? In a "there, beat that" kind of way?
Could just be air out of my arse, but its a nice thought.

To be fair to sony they have only launched a month ago, and the company has had a lot of bad press latley esspecially regarding the PS3 I say give them a fair chance, both Sony and Microsoft are afraid at the moment esspecially when it comes to the Nintendo Boom.
I was supprised that Xbox has only sold 10 million units and its been out for a year now Wii has sold 6 million in the last 2 months of its release and Sony have only sold about a million in the same period as Wii.
I would'nt like to be Microsoft or Sony right now, I guess the graphics over game play aurgument has been awnsered!
I am peeved as i got an Xbox 360 back in October and I am worried its gonna go the same way as the Dreamcast.  |

Hah, that takes me back to my childhood too. And looking back at it I've realised that it was just as pathetic as the current day fanboys arguing over the current 3 formats.
I don't mind the PR war between Sony and MS. It's great entertainment watching grown men fling mud at each other. Whilst fanboy are irritating, big PR honchos have me in stitches - it's like watching Tony Blair and David Cameron bitching a each other in Parliament with their usual snide comments rather than actual real debate. |
