Special Appeals To Our Most Dedicated Listeners

Support the Next Phase of WFMU's Webcasts with The Mouse of Today Fund

In the eight years since WFMU first made its programming available online, we've added five new streaming formats and dozens of new features for our growing number of online listeners. From stereo broadband streams, to real-time playlists and stereo archives, these improvements have been made possible by our annual Mouse of Today campaign. Mouse of Today pledgers donate $330 or more (payable in monthly $33 installments) to improve our online presence. By continuing our development in this crucial area, Mouse funders have increased WFMU's audience, helping to keep us free from The Man or any of his associates. Over a third of our listeners now hear WFMU over their computer, and the Mouse campaign has been the key to this success.

With another successful Mouse campaign in 2005, we'll be able to continue rolling out new online features, which will keep WFMU's listenership growing and rolling with the changing technical landscape. We've already begun podcasting ten WFMU programs, making the MP3 archives of these shows deliverable automatically to listeners' computers and iPods (see podcast.wfmu.org for info). In the next year we also have plans to add even better sounding broadband streams and weekly web-only freeform shows, which will be free of the FCC's increasingly strict language restrictions. We'd also like to make most of our song and artist information visible in the window of your player.

The Mouse pledge is payable in ten monthly installments of $33, or any other payment plan of your choosing. In return, Mouse pledgers are wrapped in a virtual cocoon of WFMU swag, including any six of the premiums listed on our DJ premiums page, plus all the normal T-shirts, car magnets, and other items that we offer at the basic levels, plus an item from our prize warehouse -- all in all, twelve nuggets of material love.

And if you want to spread the love of your Mouse pledge around among different WFMU programs, just check off the "Marathon Prize Account" box on our pledge page.

Aid WFMU's Long-Term Health with the Y3K Solution Fund

The road to WFMU's financial security is littered with the debris of our annual cash flow crisis. For many years following our independence in 1995 from the bankrupt Upsala College, WFMU paid its utility bills in the Fall with borrowed money and station credit cards.

That's why the Y3K solution fund was established six years ago, and in that time, it's brought a huge measure of stability to our precarious finances. The Y3K fund sets aside contributions for $1000 or more for WFMU's long-term financial health. Rather than spending this money on operating expenses, it's turned into long term equity for the station, which in turn helps to get us through those cash-starved months at the end of each calendar year.

With two years left to go before we have to pay off the $670,000 mortgage on our building in Jersey City, the Y3K fund ensures that your donation will stay with WFMU forever. Thanks to past and future Y3K listeners, WFMU will never be evicted or face a sudden rent hike, like so many other not-for-profit groups. Our 1997 building purchase has turned into a great investment for WFMU, and Y3K funders have helped to make us masters of our own housing fate. But with interest rates climbing and only two years left to go before refinancing looms, the Y3K fund is a race against spending our operating budget on interest payments instead of radio programming.

If you're able to help out at the Y3K level, not only will you get a tax deduction, we will deliver a virtual horn of plenty brimming with WFMU swag to your house. You can also make a donation to WFMU in the form of appreciated securities and enjoy a full tax deduction for the appreciated value, while avoiding any capital gains tax.

To help with the Y3K Fund, choose an amount and a payment option on our pledge page and choose your swag!

Even if you can't help out with these two special campaigns, please make a regular old pledge of any amount you're comfortable with, either by pledging here or by calling us toll-free at 800-989-9368.
