Here's the AIA scoop on the SFI. (That's Aid to Individual Artists and Summerfair, Inc.). And the winners are ... printmaker ELLEN PRICE, sculptor FARRON ALLEN mixed-media manipulator DEBBIE BROD and photographer MARY STRUBBE. For those avid Summerfair poster collectors, they're hee-re. Try Joseph-Beth Booksellers in the Rookwood Pavilion

Speaking of posters, time is running short for AMERICAN ART POSTERS OF THE 1890S at the Cincinnati Art Museum. It was the Queen City's heyday back then, when lithographers settled here and made this city a printing mecca with wonderful art nouveau fantasies. Some of the world's finest commercial images may be sampled at CAM through March 27.

And posters again: Congratulations to Mount St. Joe grad, DENISE KRAMER, for winning the Enquirer's Cammy poster competition with a fine design on the Cincinnati landscape.

Since last summer, the Baker-Hunt Foundation in Covington has listed COLE CARROTHERS as program director. The almost-free art school, responsible for some of the finest programs by the best teachers the area offers, has taken bows for years as the propulsion behind many of the current collectible artists in this area. Carrothers has been proposing new ideas during his tenure at the foundation which promise to expand and enhance the great stuff it offers for both kids and adults. Back in 1994 when CityBeat was the new kid on the block, my very first assignment was a review of Carrothers' solo exhibit at Cincinnati Art Galleries, so I have a sentimental interest in his career. Somebody needs art? Call 431-0020 and learn.

Scholastics are here! These venerable honors awards for writing and art show at THE CARNEGIE through Mar. 26. feature junior high and high school future arts leaders. Wanna be impressed? This will do it. 491-2030.
