Richard Wiles' farewell to Doom (ahhhh-hahaha! I'll believe it when I see it Rich!) is smooth, shiny and as tough as they come.

The levels are very well designed and constructed with great texture work and lighting. Although the theme gets a bit muddy in places (ie: some parts just exist and don't seem to represent anything) Richard's skill somehow makes it work. The atmosphere is dark and chilling, with a foreboding blood red sky glaring at you from the windows of the various hell holes you have to slug your way through.

Slug...holy mother of God, what an understatement. This is one hard son of a bitch. The monsters are fucking everywhere, leaping out at you when you least expect it and scaring the hell out of you. And yet somehow, it works. There's just enough ammo and health to see you through. A couple of times I found myself completely dry of ammo and making a desperate lunge for a few stray shells while simultaneously dodging an Imp who was trying to rip my throat out. Brilliant stuff.

Another excellent piece of Dooming from Richard. Take this one slow and carefully and you should have fun. If you find Slayer too easy then switch off your computer and dial 1-800-GET-A-LIFE fast - you're playing Doom waaaay too much.
