Online consumer geoinformatics services

| Permanent Link | Locative

Thanks go out to mapz: a gis librarian for a posting about this article at the International Journal of Health Geographics.

As mapz rightly notes, the phrase online consumer geoinformatics services is new and commendable.

But that's not the only useful thing Maged Boulos has to say in his excellent paper.

The paper itself is titled Web GIS in practice III: creating a simple interactive map of England's Strategic Health Authorities using Google Maps API, Google Earth KML, and MSN Virtual Earth Map Control (now I have to find I and II, I guess!).

Aside from a great explanation of what they did, complete with links, the author provides an extensive discussion about geo-wiki convergence, discusses things like the objections raised by people wishing to restrict access to geoinformation and DRM (Digital Rights Management).

Well worth the read. Here's the link to the article again.
