Opened the back of my film camera have I ruined film?

    Olympus superzoom 800s

    Kodak portra 400 35mm film

My film camera automatically winds up film when you feed it into the camera and the back is shut (see picture) however this time I only partially inserted it so I when I turned on my camera it said “1” as if I was on my first exposure and then as I moved my camera it turned to the empty symbol, so naturally I opened the back and fed it in a bit more so it would fully load it, and it worked. However now I’m a bit worried the roll will be ruined - there was no sign the camera had loaded it in from what I could see from the film but I’m confused as to why it would say one then...

What's the best camera mode for turtle pics?

    Favorite Answer:

People who think turtles are slow definitely haven't encountered one yet personally or are just thinking about those large tortoises they see on TV. Turtles are fast, especially in water. My son even had one that cartwheeled its way to freedom.

    Best camera mode? Manual.

What is the best budget friendly camera for shooting sports? ?

I currently have an older model cannon EOS Rebel SL1 camera. The main lense I use is the 75-300 mm. Out of the lenses I have that one seems to get the best pictures. I’m looking for a new camera as my current one just isn’t keeping up with what I need it to do. No matter the lense or setting I can’t get the crisp pictures I’m wanting. I always have to do a ton of editing to get it remotely close to what I want. It also lags really bad so I end up missing out on some amazing shots.  I can’t even take pictures at night because the quality is ten times worse without natural lighting. I would prefer to stay with the cannon brand so I can still use the lenses that I already have. I mainly shoot pictures of equestrians, sports, and children. I do some stand still but rarely so I’m looking for a good sports camera. I have maxed out this cameras potential and am looking for something that gives me a bit more room to play without breaking the bank. I attached a raw image that I’ve taken with this camera and lense to show what I mean by the quality. I understand editing can fix a lot of those issues but it won’t fix the lag problem. TIA for any camera recommendations!

I have two prime M42 (screw) lenses, which is a great, used <£1000 30mp+ DSLR I can use them on with inf' focus without damaging the mirror?

    Favorite Answer:

I am not aware of any M42 dSLRs - so you will need an adapter to mount it, so I guess that counts for real justification. Which camera are you planning to use and which lenses (brand, focal length). The only problem I had ever had in that regards was with an adapted (from M39 SLR mount) Mir Ib  on a Zenit 12 XP. But in general you should be good to go with a M42 to whatever you are using adapter. M42 is a SLR mount so the mirror was taken into consideration when building them. But without knowing what camera you to plan to use them lenses on it's hard to say.

With Nikon F-mount cameras you'll need an adapter with a correction lens so you can

    a) mount it

    b) reach infinity focus

    this will degrade image quality.

With Sony A mount, Canon EOS or Pentax K cameras you can use glassless adapters that don't degrade IQ. You will need the respective adapters which are available cheaply to be able to mount the lens to your camera.

Camera lens broke whilst in 'care' of shop, but they blame customer.?

Friend recently got a camera lens from a shop I used to work at (UK). Within it's year warranty, the lens locked and stopped working. In early December she took the lens in for them to send it off to Sigma to get fixed. Now, working at this company in the past, I know how the systems are for returns. We used to have to fill out a form explaining what the problem is that needs fixing, and if there's any marks on it (that way, the customer can't say it's been broken in our care.) On her form, it didn't have anything about the condition it was in when it should have.

She called the shop after it had been with them for 2 weeks, they told her that they hadn't sent it off yet, as it's before Christmas and "it won't be looked at until after Christmas anyway." I told her that they should have sent it asap regardless if no-one will be in Japan's repair centre.

She called mid-Jan for an update, and they told her that they cannot fix the lens under warranty because there's a dent. She said there is no way that happened in her care and must have happened when they had it in those weeks before Christmas. They refuse to take responsibility and said she will have to pay for any repairs they do.

And in the weeks it took to send the lens off, I truly believe it happened in their care. Is there a way she can complain to maybe Trading Standards to get the shop to pay for the repair as she can vouch 100% there was no dent when she handed it in, just the problem with the lens locking.

    Ty.
