Argentina's YPF planning to cut capital expenditure by at least 20/25%

UN requests to know why Argentine social leader Milagro Sala remains in jail

Charges were filed against Sala in January for instigation of ''crimes and sedition'', after staging a sit-in against Jujuy Governor Gerardo Morales, an ally of Macri.

United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention wants Argentine President Mauricio Macri to explain why social leader Milagro Sala has been in jail for almost two months. The request comes two weeks after the UN Group accepted a filing submitted by the Centre of Legal and Social Studies (CELS), Amnesty International and Andhes, a group of lawyers from the northern area of the country.

Argentina and Uruguay unable to arrest a Chinese flagged poaching jigger

The Argentine Coast Guard and Uruguayan navy failed in capturing a Chinese flagged jigger poaching in the two countries shared waters. According to non official reports, two Argentine Coast Guard vessels and a helicopter plus a Uruguayan aircraft and vessel were involved in the attempt to arrest Hua Li 8.

Griesa lifts injunctions: 'Argentina needs time to raise money to pay creditors'

Judge Griesa wrote that circumstances have changed so significantly with Argentina that his earlier orders have become detrimental to the public interest.

A judge sided with Argentina in its debt standoff on Wednesday, agreeing to let orders protecting creditors expire so that large U.S. hedge funds and smaller entities and people can be paid at least US$6.2 billion to satisfy settlements reached over the last month.

UK ambassador to Argentina, Mark Kent, takes office next July

Mr. Kent is currently ambassador in Thailand and from 2007/10 held a similar post in Hanoi, before the Vietnamese government

Mark Andrew Geoffrey Kent, currently ambassador in Thailand has been appointed British ambassador in Argentina, in succession of Dr. John Freeman, who will be transferring to another diplomatic service appointment. Mr. Kent is expected to take his new job during July this year.
