Trump tsunami: Republican hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer to become Rubio's finance chairman

US daily Pol?tico reported on Tuesday that the announcement will be made at a quarterly gathering of Rubio donors in Miami on March 10.

Paul Singer, the influential hedge fund billionaire from New York who endorsed Marco Rubio in October, is set to be named as his national finance chairman according to various US press reports. Singer is well known in Argentina for bringing a lawsuit against the government in the holdouts dispute.

Brazil begins reconstruction of Antarctica base “Comandante Ferraz” lost to fire in 2012

 The new base will cost US$ 99.6m and will be built by a Chinese company which won the international bidding process.

A symbolic ceremony launching the reconstruction of Brazil's “Comandante Ferraz” Antarctic base was held at the Chilean Antarctic Institute in Punta Arenas with the attendance of top officials from both countries. The Brazilian base, located in King George Island was a total loss back in February 2012 caused by a fire that started at the power room.

UK ambassador to Argentina, Mark Kent, takes office next July

Mr. Kent is currently ambassador in Thailand and from 2007/10 held a similar post in Hanoi, before the Vietnamese government

Mark Andrew Geoffrey Kent, currently ambassador in Thailand has been appointed British ambassador in Argentina, in succession of Dr. John Freeman, who will be transferring to another diplomatic service appointment. Mr. Kent is expected to take his new job during July this year.
