After using various streamers over the years, including so called next gen droid boxes and of course a mini pc. All I can say is im SOLD on this.
I run Sky HD and as i'm sure you are aware it is and never will be true HD. This so called service costs me 80 pounds per month for all packages, for a sub par viewing system.
Now moving onto the Fire TV, you will upon boot up, exclaim "whoah check out that picture", well at least my wife did! It is so clean and crisp.
I have seen lots of negative reviews about Prime, now for 6 pounds a month you can look at > 15k film and tv shows, that 10 percent the cost of sky. Why moan?
Now add a net flix account and for less than a weekly take out, you have access to more media that you can look at in a life time!
Missed a terrestrial TV show? use the APPS that Amazon provide.
Cant see your local Data? Buy Plex at 1.99 and play way.
Want to see the latest shows? Side load a certain program and hey presto every single channel under the known TV land is yours
Unable to record? use the side loaded program, buy a 50 pound NAS server and record/share to your hearts content.
69 pound for this seems way to cheap when you look at the cost of the plastic streaming boxes out there.
Bad reviews of this product Irk me a great deal. Ok it maybe easier to get a sub par android box and save a few hours of tinkering, BUT, as I said I have used the cyclone,m8,apple tv and google stick, most have been ebayed. This won't be.
EDIT forgot to add, The kids love this for gaming, I use a USB extender port and 2 wired xbox controller, They use this over the old xbox 360
