Product Description

Everything about the man is a mystery...

No one knows where he came from, how he made his money or what's drawn him to the isolated Black Hills of North Wyoming. His generosity has won the locals over, but are his motives above suspicion?

After a string of disappearances, Joe Pickett isn't the first investigator to pursue this enigmatic millionaire, but will he be the first to leave alive? With winter's first storm closing in, Joe's about to discover there's a stone-cold killer stalking the hills - and he's not alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stone Cold by C J Box 29 Mar 2014
By JenR
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Brilliant, as always. Couldn't put it down. Joe is temporarily transferred to a small Wyoming town on a mission for the Governor. Chuck Connors is again his link with the FBI and Nate appears to have gone over to the dark side. Joe is just there to observe and report back, but Joe being Joe he gets a lot more involved than that. Loved the book but so long to wait for the next one. If you like Joe Picket, don't hesitate to buy it. If you haven't read Joe Picket, then start at the beginning and work through. Each one is a gem.

After looking forward to another experience out of the Box I have to confess to being quite disappointed with his latest. The plot, characters and action sequences are all lacking his usual edge and individuality of style. Outcomes are telegraphed and only Nate's latest romance offers any passion. Primarily a read for Joe's family update, rather than progressive writing.

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit boring with unconnected story lines 9 Jun 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this book quite hard to get through. There were two separate completely unconnected storylines on of which ended on an anti climax. The ending was not an ending and left me feeling dissatisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joe Picket at his best 3 July 2014

Brilliant, as good a Joe Pickett novel as there ever was.

If you have been reading the series which is years and many long, you'll love this latest story.

quite interesting but would have enjoyed it more if I had read the pre sequels. However not a bad story in itself.
