Storage for your Shiny Treasure,
By
This review is from: AmazonBasics 7-Inch Black Sleeve for Nexus 7 / Kindle Fire / Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7-Inch Tablet (Personal Computers)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
You have a style dilemma with darling Kindles, Nexuses and the like. They are lovely, sleek and beautiful, but they break easily. If you put them in padded sleeves which will keep them safe, you turn them into bulky objects the size of regular books. So, here's an option: a soft padded sleeve to keep your treasure safe, but when you take it out to use, it's slim and pristine and shiny.
Now, personally, I'm too nervous of dropping mine once I take it out really to enjoy this option, but if you're less clumsy than me or have a higher anxiety threshold, this might be for you. The foam is dense but light and the overall bulk of it not too great: it fits in a generous jacket pocket. The well-positioned zip won't scratch your machine. It's in an austere black with Amazon's little logo peeping out, which counts as a high status brand in some circles. If dropped, it bounces gently. I've tried this, because I'm clumsy. It's cheap for the sort of thing it is, so if you feel more comfortable with a book-style binding, you've not parted with too much lucre. But if I want to show of my shiny tech (say, on long train journeys where my poor motor control probably won't subject my tablet to too much injury), then this makes a great travelling pouch. So ask yourself this: "Am I likely to drop my tablet/kindle in the act of removing it from the sleeve?" If the answer is, "Frankly, yes!" then you might look elsewhere. If you think, "No way, I've got a sky-high Dexterity!" then this is for you.

Good protection for transporting tablets,

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I like this case because it is simple to use, feels sturdy and reliable and does what it is meant to. It isn't the most attractive, a soft black case with a single zip around the top, but protects a lot more thoroughly than most other styles of case can do.
The inside is soft with a smoother fabric on the exterior and it has a good level of padding without making it too bulky to carry around with you. Personally, this case is ideal for me for when I need to take my device out with me for longer distances, on daytrips or when I go on holidays. It keeps it well protected within my rucksack or bag and stops other items in my bag rubbing against it and possibly causing scratches. I do have a wraparound style case too, which I use day to day, but I use this new case for when I am storing my device somewhere as it offers better protection from accidental drops or even light spills. It does not fit in this within its wraparound case unfortunately and that is one of the only real downsides I see, as once you remove it from the padded case it no longer has any protection unless you put on a solid or wraparound case whilst using. This is obviously fine for laptops and so on, but isn't something I feel particularly comfortable with when carrying around my tablet. I do love the protection this offers when you have to transport your device though, so will continue to use it, and do recommend buying at such a good price, for what feels a decent quality product.

Good solid buy,

This review is from: AmazonBasics 10-Inch Black Sleeve for iPad Air / Kindle 8.9 Inch Tablet (Personal Computers)
The sleeve was bought to protect the new Kindle whilst INSIDE it's leather case - I travel a lot, often internationally, so wanted something to protect my device on flights as well as while being carried about daily.
My Kindle is the 7" Fire HDX & I bought the 8.9" sleeve to allow space for the Kindle's case as well. It's a Roo Case leather zip-up & the 8.9" sleev was a great fit for it. Snug enough to protect it well but not tight so as to place a strain on it. A good fit. This is ideal for the Kindle & was a repeat purchase after having already bought the same item for my laptop. Good solid design that does what it says on the tin. A very good buy. Also well done on delivery, Amazon. The delivery service is improving. Items booked late Mon/early Tue were here at 0900 in line with Prime membership & good driver too. Previous deliveries ordered from Amazon (and not a third party) came from other services & were slack, lacked common sense & even clumsy with packages but the new bunch are better.

This review is from: AmazonBasics Laptop Sleeve for 14-Inch Laptops (Personal Computers)
Although this is the first time that I have ever bought and used a Laptop Sleeve I opted for AmazonBasics due to my exceedingly positive experience with this line of products in the past and this is no exception.
The sleeve in no way feels cheap and has a simple design of pure black with a "Amazon Basics" logo left-hand corner; as I am sure you can see from the image. The sleeve feels quite thick and does not leave me feeling concerned when I shove it in my backpack after class with my laptop inside. I had been using my laptop unprotected previously and noticed it was taking a good amount of denting and scraping around the sides as it bashed into things in my backpack but this has since completely ceased when using this product. While I doubt it would provide complete impact protection it certainly does it's bit to reduce the occasional bump and bang. Being black in colour it does tend to get slightly dirty (mostly fixable by a quick dust down) however, I am sure it would hold up being thrown in the washing machine on a low heat - washing instructions however, are not included on the tag inside the product. Overall, this does exactly what a foam laptop/ tablet sleeve should do. It protects from scratches and scrapes as well as providing a cushion for bumps and bangs. All while being inexpensive.

Doesn't fit my Kindle Fire HD Properly,

I own a 7" Kindle Fire HD and needed a case to keep it safe so got this one - it is good quality and does keep my Kindle safe however the top corners are not big enough to fit it comfortably so is a big struggle to close the zip properly, which is a shame as otherwise this is a high quality product that I would have recommended. I can't comment on how it fits the Samsung Galaxy or Nexus tablets but for Kindles at least I would look at getting a different one (very strange as this is an actual Amazon made product).

Good value for money. Bought this to go with an Asus MeMO 7 tablet with rubber case. If you are going to buy it as an outer case to go over a 'skin' type case, make sure you big a larger size, as the one I purchased (the 8") only just fits. Another reviewer complained that the label on the case made it look cheap, I think it looks okay - matter of taste, I suppose.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It's not often I'd get a product that sits at a relatively low price point, not expecting much from it, and come away genuinely satisfied with what it offers, but in the case of this sleeve/pouch/whatever you want to call it... I have been pretty darn happy with it.
I know it's labelled as being for iPad Air/Kindle, but I've mainly been using it to store a cheapo Yarvik made 10 inch tablet I got a while back and while it's a slightly tight fit for that, it houses it nicely and has proven to be pretty solid protection for when I'm carrying the tablet around in my work bag. I've even gotten drenched in a couple of nasty rainstorms that saw the rain seep into my bag and this sleeve managed to keep the water off of the tablet when it happened. Worth the price easily if you need some simple storage for your tablet, but I wouldn't bet on it stopping a bullet or anything. It isn't made of especially thick material so impact damage should still be of concern. I'm happy with what I got though.

A simple, straightforward and basic slip wallet-style case for a mini iPad.
The case is well made; strongly and evenly stitched together with a good quality zip that allows easy access to the iPad. There is a very good amount of padding that also covers the perimeter of the case as well as under the zip, an area that is often overlooked. The only drawback for me is that the case feels a little bit too small for my mini iPad. Don’t get me wrong, the iPad fits but the teeth of the zip get a little too close to the corners for my liking and I am concerned about the potential to scratch the surface. The case only needed to be a couple of mm larger at most to avoid that problem and I expect the padding will give a little over time but it just feels slightly mean to cut it fractionally smaller than necessary; after all, the main reason for having a case is to protect the contents from damage including scratches – so four stars.

This review is from: AmazonBasics Laptop Sleeve for 14-Inch Laptops (Personal Computers)
14" sleeve purchased for an HP Chromebook 14 G3.
Sleeve was well made and of good quality and has a sturdy zip. It is a little tight on the corners though, so it is something I will not be using much as there is very little surplus room in the sleeve. It is sufficiently tight that my very small chromebook would have had its corners gouged by the back of the zip as it went by. If you close the sleeve carefully by stretching the sleeve at each corner when using the zip then you can pull the zip clear of the laptop and avoid these corner scratches. This sleeve will not protect your laptop much if it is dropped, think of it more as a soft neoprene-type anti-scratch cover/sleeve. In that latter role it excels and is ideal for carrying around the office from meeting to meeting, but for travel I'd go for something a little more robust which has room for power leads etc, which this sleeve does not.

Does the job!,

This review is from: AmazonBasics Laptop Sleeve for 11.6-Inch Laptop / Chromebook / MacBook Air (Personal Computers)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Like most of the Amazon Basics range, this laptop sleeve does its job well, without any bells and whistles. It's a soft case that has a layer of padding of medium thickness, and it seemed to offer my laptop a good level of protection. It has an easy-to-open zip and you can slip the laptop in and out quickly. The rounded corners are pleasant, and the overall design is simple and sleek. It's very light and doesn't add unnecessary bulk to your laptop or tablet, which is a plus point.
As usual however, I wish they wouldn't put such a large, obvious and cheap-looking 'Basics' label on the product. If you want a good value, simple case for a laptop or tablet then it's hard to go wrong with this. |
