5.0 out of 5 stars Security at its finest
This is a fantastic product. Formerly I set all my passwords to "password" because otherwise I couldn't remember them. Now I write them down in this book with my username, the website they pertain to and any relevant details like any PIN codes, security questions, or mother's maiden name and it couldn't be easier to get into all those accounts.

This looks like a great idea: everything handy, easily accessible, well-organised. But are you going to keep it in a safe with only you knowing the combination? Because, if not, you risk theft of your identity, your money and your sanity. What you really need is a simple, inexpensive application that holds this information in encrypted form. 5.0 out of 5 stars Security at its finest, 26 Nov 2012
This review is from: The Personal Internet Address & Password Log Book (Password Organizer) (Hardcover-spiral)

I've read on here that this is bad practice because if a thief stole the book they could get access to all my accounts, but this is easily remedied: I've hidden the book in a place where nobody can find it! Admittedly the first few times I did this it was a problem because I forgot where I had hidden them - if you do find any of the nine copies that are still missing please return them as they contain all my important account details and I wouldn't like them to fall into the wrong hands - my name and address are on the first page (just above my bank details), but the house is empty every Monday to Friday because I work abroad during the week and I don't have any close neighbours, so you'd be best to drop it round at the weekend unless you want to pop it inside the back door (don't worry, there is no burglar alarm to set off or dogs to worry about!) - the key is under a flowerpot by the step; if you were feeling very helpful you could pop it into the safe next to the jewellery and credit cards; the combination is 7643 (easy to remember as it is the same as my bank card PIN). The safe is in my bedroom hidden next to a small painting - please do be careful not damage it as it is by van Gogh and priceless.

Anyway, I solved the problem of losing the books by hiding a copy under my laptop with just the edge poking out, so unless a thief stole my laptop there would be no chance of them seeing it! I've also increased security by posting copies to strangers and asking them not to look inside unless they are called by me asking for one of the passwords. Honestly, the paranoia surrounding password security is unbelievable; don't let the naysayers put you off buying this innovative product.

This looks like a great idea: everything handy, easily accessible, well-organised. But are you going to keep it in a safe with only you knowing the combination? Because, if not, you risk theft of your identity, your money and your sanity. What you really need is a simple, inexpensive application that holds this information in encrypted form. You then only need to remember one password and it will open an electronic version of this wee logbook, with the added bonus of your being able to organise and change things under whatever and however many categories - but you can search very easily. You can copy it onto a memory stick and then have access to it abroad or wherever - and it is all still encrypted as long as you memorise and don't write down the password! Do an Internet search for password manager.

Really, do not buy this paper-based, frightening open sesame to every thief in creation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Most useless book - don't waste your money, 29 Mar 2013
This review is from: The Personal Internet Address & Password Log Book (Password Organizer) (Hardcover-spiral)
I ummed and rrred abit before eventually buying one of these, but I find it the most useless book. I have to say I didn't look at what size it was, but the photo made it larger enough. On arrival, what a tiddler.

Worse were the pages - allows 3 entries per page and you have to write so minutely to fit anything on a line.

As it is a far from practical publication, it has been used to record those sites I use for ancestrt research and I don't think it will stay the course, as it fails to include a space to record which email address you use for the site, or the site's email address, except under "Notes".

If you ever have to amend the record, say, of password functionally, you would have to re-enter the details as there is no space for amendments.

Useless.

1.0 out of 5 stars extremely bad idea, 6 Aug 2012
This review is from: The Personal Internet Address & Password Log Book (Password Organizer) (Hardcover-spiral)
This is the worst thing possible you can do regarding passwords and security.

I think the reasons why are obvious so I'll offer viable alternatives.

You should look for one of the software password managers for example;

keepass
lastpass
1password

Here are 3 software based solutions and they will allow you to store passwords for any site you come across, most have built in password generators so you can have a totally random password for every sitee that looks like "erwergweqr56342t34t2+ERgerwq".

You just need 1 master password to open the database you create, you can keep your personal databse on a flash drive, in your computer or in the cloud via dropbox. Its secure because only you have that master password.
all of these offer web browser plug in that will even auto type your info, so the next time you visit amazon you can click 1 button and it will enter your login/pass for you.
Most are platform independant too meaning you can access your database on all your devices.

Im currently using 1 password and i can use it on my mac, my pc, my ipad and my android phone (1password costs money but the other solutions are free).

Seriously, dont buy a bloody book and write all your sensitive passwords in it!!!!

I have managed to get all of the information moved across from my old A5 book but it was a shock to see how small this book is.it is half of A5.

I know you should never write down passwords, but with so many websites and on line banking, it is becoming impossible to remember all the username and password combinations. Hence this book. Keep them all written down in an easy to use indexed system.

Just remember to hide it well, otherwise your identity online will be compromised and your funds in your bank depleted as they get raided by a very happy thief who has just found all your passwords.

Ok I know that you're not supposed to write your passwords down but my other half is useless with passwords and unless she does this she'd never remember anything!
She was using a tatty old book before but she loves this book as it has spaces for everything she wants!

1.0 out of 5 stars Violates every rule there is about computer security, 2 Aug 2012
This review is from: The Personal Internet Address & Password Log Book (Password Organizer) (Hardcover-spiral)
Rule 1) Do not write down your passwords
Rule 2) Do not write down passwords next to email addresses
Rule 3) Do not keep everything in one place.

...This seems to break all the rules, Just imagine what would happen if someone ever got ahold of this book? Would you ever write your credit card pin number down and leave it with your wallet? So why would you write your passwords with your emails and other important logins.

4.0 out of 5 stars At last, 26 Sep 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Personal Internet Address & Password Log Book (Password Organizer) (Hardcover-spiral)
I am at last happy to devise complex and very different passwords without fear of forgetting them later. A small size and discreet, it looks like a plain black notebook or diary. Has organised my former dilapidated notebook with passwords old and new and haphazardly arranged into one alphabetised and structurally sound format - wish I'd bought this ages ago. As I have often felt about address books, a Filofax version would be good so that pages could be replaced &/or added but I think this will do me for a few years anyway.

One thing - I keep all my bank passwords etc in my head and never store payment details on my websites. This way if my book should ever get into the wrong hands it would be of little use to a thief.
