Thomas and Friends TrackMaster Emily Playset As the motor and battery are in the truck rather than the engine, this won't stay on the track. The truck has to push the engine along which is stupid. The others we have all have the motoe in the engine and give no trouble at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Engine at the back is a bit rubbish 2 Mar 2014

Oh Emily why oh why can't you have the battery in your engine and not your tender? Makes you go round in circles if you are not on the track. I suppose it's quite funny sending your tender off on the track on its own....spooky. Not quite the Emily we expected...

    1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work 13 July 2010

As the previous reviewer stated, the battery goes in the second car and not the engine. Therefore, Emily only works if the track is set up in a plain loop. We bought the extra track set and had it set up all over the living room; the other trains could do the track just fine but Emily kept getting off track. It was very annoying. I already threw out the package or I'd return her. Don't buy this!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor design on this one -- look at some of the other Trackmaster engines instead 25 Feb 2011

My 4 year old son absolutely loves his TrackMaster Thomas the Train set, expansion pack, and assorted engines. He has Thomas, Percy, James and now just recently we purchased this Emily engine. The other engines are excellent and work very well. But Emily is a disappointment and waste of money. It is poorly designed with the power mechanism in the second car rather than in the engine itself. This means that the car turns in a circle rather than running a straight line, and if you place it on the TrackMaster tracks it repeatedly jumps the track. (Thomas, Percy & James' power is in their engines not the second cars, so they work fine.) My husband summed it up with with this line from the Thomas show, Emily is just *not* a "really useful engine". LOL

I purchased this for my 3 year old son. He was so excited as he is a BIG Thomas fan. We got it out of the package and noticed that the battery went in the back car of the train and not the engine. When turned on, the back car does all of the pushing instead of the engine, therefore the train goes in circles instead of running straight. I checked all of his other trains and sure enough, in all of the other trains, the batteries go in the engine part and not the car part. I have never seen a Thomas train made like this nor just spin in circles. He finally told me to just throw it away. The car part is good if you want to hook it up to other trains/engines. Save your money on this one as it is a waste, unless you enjoy watching a train go around in circles.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty train but.... 4 Jan 2011

She can't run on tight loop properly as other engines could. Emily kept going off-track at tight loops. Have no idea why the maker chose to put the battery in the car instead of the engine. She have big wheels at the middle of the engine that contributes to off-balance and extreme lightness for the front wheels. She's good on straightaways and wide semicircular curves. She is crap on snaky curves and/or tight loops. Again, because the front wheels are barely heavy enough and it can't resist the rail as it hit the turns. Battery inside her could help but instead it's in the car behind her. Stupid. Don't the maker ever do any test runs? If you are patient and have very few engines on tracks, then it's okay for her. But with huge track layouts and lots of engines, she's begging for disaster and a face to the wall from frustration.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Worst Trackmaster Yet!!! 27 Dec 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Why would you design a train like this that doesn't function properly, plus it just so happens to be one of the most popular female trains in the series. I beleive it should be pulled and redesigned. It is a waste of money and a disappointment to the children. The reviews previously are correct. It is horrible!!
