Cars 2 [DVD] DVD ~ Owen Wilson
Cars 2 [DVD] DVD ~ Owen Wilson

It's credit to Pixar that Cars 2 is considered a bad film. Had any other studio made this (and the first Cars, for that matter), they would have been recevied a lot better, I think. But, by Pixar standards, this is one of their weakest, for sure.

But that doesn't mean it's a bad film overall. Don't be put off by the negativity you may read: this is a GOOD film. Not great, and certainly not one of their best, but still enjoyable and satisfying.

Trouble is, Cars 2 is the polar opposite of the first one, which isn't exactly a good thing. There was plenty to like about the first Cars: relaxed pace, heartwarming story, meaningful characters...still, Lasseter seems to… Read more
Ross Noble - Headspace Cowboy [DVD]

Ross Noble deserves way more attention than he gets. He is one of the finest comedians active right now, and his DVDs have become must-haves in my collection as of late. Not only is he fantastically funny, but because he improvises 95% of his set, no two shows are the same. Because of this, some bright spark on his team decided to fit cameras at most of his gigs and squeeze the 'other' shows on as extras. A Ross Noble DVD can be plundered for hours, and the quality of his comedy rarely, if ever, lags.

So, his latest DVD, then. Usually the phrase 'more of the same' can be a bit of an insult, but not so with Ross Noble, because it means 'to expect the unexpected'. He has his… Read more
Rhod Gilbert and The Cat That Looked Like Nicholas&hellip DVD ~ Rhod Gilbert

I thoroughly enjoyed his first DVD, 'The Award-Winning Mince Pie', and I can safely say that if you enjoyed it too, then you'll like this as well, but I must admit I didn't find it quite as good as the first one.

Rhod likes to have a bit of a story under his comedy, which worked really well in the first one. He's done the same here - in fact it's a kind of 'sequel' to the first one - but I think it's gone a bit too far. The rants and raves about 'trivial' things too, while still funny, are over the top.

Of course, the over-the-topness of his rants make sense at the end of this story, which I won't spoil (this is the first time I can say there are spoilers to a… Read more
