For the money, there really isn't much you can complain about here.
No. It's not the best keyboard out there; it's not going to beat out your top-end Microsoft or whatever device, so if that's what you want you need to adjust your expectations a bit. And buy something more expensive. However, if you just need a cheap keyboard with a US layout for use as a spare, or perhaps with a cheap machine you might have elsewhere for occasional use, you're in business. The keys are comfortable in size & shape -for my taste they're spaced a little too far apart, but you adjust to that quickly enough, and everybody likes different things anyway, so it's not much of a criticism. They have a positive feel for short-travel devices too, which is good, and the ensemble is reasonably shallow, front to back, though quite broad, so make sure you have a reasonable amount of lateral space on the desk. Otherwise, no surprises. It does a solid job, and costs very little, so you're unlikely to go far wrong.

I use this keyboard with my laptop when I am working specifically with spreadsheets. I like the number keypad at the side.It plugs in via USB and is ready to go.The rest of the keyboard is what you would expect, with some nice touches such as keys for my computer, calculator and sound.Overall this keyboard is useful and I would say good value.

Simple and functional--all one can ask. A tad annoying not to have the option of a pound sign, but I realized that when I purchased it.

I've gotten used to a lot of things after moving to the UK, but the keyboard layout isn't one of them. This keyboard is a solid budget keyboard that provides a US layout. It has the standard multimedia keys you'd want--fast-forward, rewind, stop, play/pause--available by using the Fn key, plus volume controls, a "Videos" key that, on Windows 8, brings up Windows Media Player, and a My Computer key. Overall, though, the extra keys are fairly sparse--not a problem for me as I don't use them much anyway.
Rather than "standable feet", this keyboard has a permanent lip on the back to prop it up a bit. That said, it feels fairly flat. If you usually type with the feet out, this one may not satisfy you. The construction quality feels solid. The keys are comfortable and seem well-built. The keyboard itself is lightweight and thin. As long as you're comfortable typing on a very basic keyboard, this one is a good choice--especially if you're an expat American.

LOL what can you say about a basic keyboard?
I got this because I'd actually worn away some of the white lettering on my previous keyboard. It's functional, does what I need it to do, was easy to swap over and is compatible with other pc components in place

The keyboard is perfectly fine works as expected when plugged into my laptop, and is very handy for me as through extensive use my laptop keyboard has a horrible glitch where it will throw the cursor back over what you have just written.
Be aware it is a US keyboard though. As my laptop came from the US, I have got used to the layout, as there are various keystrokes you get used to making instinctively, especially if you do some development work. Still at least the letters are in the right place, whenever I go to France, I spend more time going back fixing what I have typed in rather than actual typing.

For the price this is a great keyboard. It works straight out of the box - all you have to do is plug it into a USB port. It has a nice tactile feel and good key responsiveness.
You do have to get used to some keys being in slightly different places - my annoyance was that the Esc key is not isolated as on a standard keyboard. It is worth the price though.

For the price this is an high quality keyboard. I'ma professional writer and any keyboard I own is put to a lot of use - this one is more than up to the task. The keys are nice and solid and can handle high speed typing. I also like the slim design and the rubber coating on the base means the keyboard sits well on my desk. Excellent value for money.

I wanted a plug in keyboard to go with my laptop as I hate the keyboard on it (far too much pressure required). This is very lightweight and once settled securely on a table works perfectly well (though I found it too flimsy to use on my lap) and it's sufficiently responsive that i seem to make fewer typos than on my laptop keys. It also means I can put the lap top up higher and use the keyboard in the right place. That said I'd failed to notice that it's a US board and what you see is what you get so there's a $ and no and no way to set a command to change it as far as I can see. (And of course if you're using an add on keyboard don't forget you need an add on mouse...) But for 11 it solves a basic need.

I bought my first laptop a few months ago, and have been pleased with it, but I do suffer from a bad back and I feared the need to lean forward to reach the keyboard on my desk wasn't good for me. I ordered this extra keyboard so that I could leave my laptop on my desk, in 'monitor' position, while using this to type on my lap.
Like many Amazon Basics products, it arrived in what they call 'Frustration Free' packaging. I really don't know why they call it that, since it's some of the most frustrating I know. The keyboard itself fits snuggly in a small box, which was sent via courier in a much larger box. The positioning of a label over the opening of the inner box meant that I had to rip it to get the keyboard out. Not a great start. They keyboard itself was surprisingly light. It plugs straight into the USB socket of my laptop and didn't seem to need any installation to get going. And, for the most part, it worked as I envisioned: I was able to sit back in my chair while typing away on this keyboard. Unfortunately, it's probably the worst keyboard I've owned/used. The keys feel cheap and aren't very responsive (some especially, such as the 'S'). If I type a couple of sentences, without looking at the screen, and then look up, there will invariably be several letters missing that I need to go back and reinsert. I don't leave this permanently set up, since I like to carry my laptop around the house occasionally, and after a couple of tries I haven't bothered reconnecting it even when using the laptop in my office. I'll keep this keyboard, should I need a back-up, but I'm not using it through choice. |
