Does Xbox One require an “always on” Internet connection?

An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Can I use my current gamertag on Xbox One and will my Gamerscore and Achievements transfer?

Yes. Your current Xbox Live Gamertag will stay with you on Xbox One if you choose to keep it, and your Gamerscore and Achievements will carry over from your Xbox 360.

Will Xbox One be backward compatible with my existing games?

No. Xbox One hardware is not compatible with Xbox 360 games.

Will Xbox One allow players to trade in and re-sell disc-based games?

There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

Will my current Xbox Live Gold membership work with Xbox One or will I have to buy a new one?

You do not need to buy a new Xbox Live Gold membership. Your current membership will work on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Is Kinect required with every Xbox One?

Will I be able to control my privacy settings with Xbox One?

Yes. Xbox One will allow you to adjust your privacy settings and control your personal data. Any data that Xbox One collects will not leave your Xbox without your permission. When your Xbox One console is turned off, it is not recording conversations or uploading data. When turned off, Xbox One will only respond to the command 'Xbox On'.

Does Xbox One only work on voice command?

No. You can use a controller, remote controls or smart devices to navigate your Xbox One instead.

Does Xbox One use more power than Xbox 360?

Xbox One has multiple power states, and only uses the power it needs at that particular moment for the task at hand.

Can I give games to my friends?
