5.0 out of 5 stars Roomy, and Good Value
I'd never heard of Intenso before today, so I thought I'd give them a try. This is a pretty good USB pen, which holds 4GB and is compatible with all the OSes available today, Linux, Mac and Windows.

This pen is quite slim - about as thick as the USB socket is, and has an easy to remove cap. There is a keyring holder at the back, so you can just put this with...

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable and slow
I bought this memory stick (not from Amazon) around 4 months ago because of it's large capacity. Right from the start I was disappointed by it's slow read and write speeds (on PC and Mac). It also dropped connection during large file transfers (became unaccessible from My Computer or Finder), which made it completely useless for what I wanted it for. And now it's totally...

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)

There is a keyring holder at the back, so you can just put this with your keys for safekeeping, personally I wouldn't because it's easy to break them. The colour is more of a grey/green - but it doesn't say it's 4GB on it's body, which isn't good. Sometimes I use the size as an indicator of which pen to use.

The pen is easy to use, just put it in your USB socket and off you go. It allows you to store 3.87GB with the way Windows reports sizes, but you'll see it's 4,000,000,000 bytes.

You can store whatever you want, and you can even use it to transfer stuff to your PS3, and other devices. I even was able to transfer to my Freeview+ box. It should hold about 175 tracks and 2,000 images in total.

This is a good pen and is worth getting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable and slow, 9 Sep 2009
I bought this memory stick (not from Amazon) around 4 months ago because of it's large capacity. Right from the start I was disappointed by it's slow read and write speeds (on PC and Mac). It also dropped connection during large file transfers (became unaccessible from My Computer or Finder), which made it completely useless for what I wanted it for. And now it's totally broken - it shows up in My Computer but you can't access it, nor format it. As far as I can tell it's dead as a dodo.

I won't be buying another one of these. I'll go with bigger-brand sticks from now on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Respectable Flash Drive, 26 Mar 2009

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I've owned quite a few USB Flash Drives over the years, only to loose most of them. Other than this Intenso, I've used ByteStor, Buffalo and SanDisk Flash Drives. Unfortunately, I could only benchmark test the two I had, and found the results of the Cruzer from an external source (although, I will update this review if I find the others). Here are the results:

Intenso Rainbow 8GB Flash Drive (9.99):

File System: FAT32
Access Time: 0.5 ms
Max Read Speed: 30.7 MB/sec - 700 MB avi File took 22 seconds to read.
Max Write speed: 6.1 MB/sec - 700 MB avi file took 2 minutes to write.

SanDisk Cruzer Micro 8GB (9.62)(Results from external source):

File System: FAT32
Access Time: 0.7 ms
Max Read Speed: 28.0 MB/s
Max Write speed: 8.5 MB/s

SanDisk Micro SDHC 8GB + USB Micro Mate Card Reader (10 to 12):

File System: FAT32
Access Time: 1.1 ms
Max Read Speed: 14.6 MB/s - 700 MB avi took 48 Seconds to read.
Max Write speed: 8.5 MB/s - 700 MB avi took 1 Minute & 22 Sec to write.

As you can see, these results show that the Intenso has the best read speed and access time, but both SanDisks have the best write speed.

My preferred Flash Drive is the SanDisk Micro SDHC 8GB + Micro Mate, because, not only is the card (and USB Micro Mate reader) tiny, which provides adequate read and excellent write results, but it can also be used in Micro SDHC supported devices such as Mobile Phones & MP3 / MP4 Players, providing excellent value for money. The SanDisk Cruzer Micro 8GB would be my second choice, because both write and read speeds are excellent, it's the cheapest, and it also features a retractable USB connector. Third choice is this Intenso Rainbow 8GB, it's not a bad USB Flash Drive as it provides excellent read and access time results, but unfortunately the write speed, ergonomics and value for money are not as good as the others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stick your memory, 23 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Intenso 3502480 32GB Rainbow USB 2.0 Flash Drive - Transparent (Accessory)
This USB2 memory stick is really good value for money with a massive 32GB of space available making it a veritable add-on hard disk. It is transparent, very fast and lights up with a red led when working. Delivery was very good and I am very pleased that I managed to purchase it at this bargain price.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's very useful, and the 16GB is generous., 15 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As far as USB flash drives go, this one is pretty cost effective. It's great for traveling around (I've used it as external storage for my trips abroad) and it comes in the colour black, which is a nice colour. I bought this after I gave my 8GB Intenso USB to a friend as a gift. This one actually turned out to be cheaper than the one I gave away, so it was great value for money. I think that it can only handle transfers of 4GB at a time though, so investigate this if this is going to be a significant factor in product choice. As this is one of the sleeker USB flash drives, I recommend it for people who have problems using the bulkier USB flash drives (if trying to fit it into an unforgiving computer case or otherwise).

I have only USB2 so that's the limiting factor vis-a-vis speed. Some commentators complain about the relatively bright blue LED that flashes on and off during use but I only use this for data storage so that doesn't bother me. It stores large amounts of data at a reasonable price and it has a protective cap that so many drives seem to lack these days. V. good.
