4.0 out of 5 stars 'ronseal' your laptop
does what it says on the tin, provides excellent privacy from the sides, doesn't dim too much when viewing., only problem is when using lowest LCD brightness settings with it

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't expect too much
The screen may be fine for most 17" laptops but is not really suitable for the MacBook Pro Unibody.

Pros:
1) The filter does prevent people seeing data on your screen
2) the filter has a gloss and a matt side so you can use it to reduce the glare on your screen ( main reason I purchased it was to reduce the glare on my Macbook pro)
3) Is...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Privacy, 30 Nov 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Got this privacy screen for my laptop so I can use my laptop on the train or in a cafe without people peering to see what you are doing?
It really is great and blocks out any peripheral eyes...it also acts as a anti glare screen, so if you spend all day in front of a computer screen it does help reduce glare and eye strain.
It's not the cheapest product, but worth every penny. A must for any business that needs to keep data secure from prying neighbours etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product., 7 Sep 2013

After trying other cheaper brands, well, this 3M product is worth every penny. One side helps to reduce glare (matte); the other makes the text look sharper and easier to read (gloss - iMac look). You choose.

I placed small pieces of the double sided strips provided on corners to fix the screen. Privacy is perfect using either side.

You need to make sure you have the correct length/width before ordering, though - do NOT trust the display overall diagonal measure!

These screens are roughly as thick as an X-Ray plate; I do not know how they would work on a laptop, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars exactly what I ordered, 18 Mar 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It is exactly what I ordered. No one who isn't right in front of your screen can see what is on it. I feel really comfortable knowing that no one can spy on my screen. You have different options to attach it to the pc, and it is very easy to put and remove. The only thing I dont like, is that someone who is in front of the screen, even from a long distance, can see what is on the screen.
The filter was sent really fast and it came in perfect conditions.

2.0 out of 5 stars not wide enough for macbook pros, 21 July 2011
Stay away from this product if you own a MacBook Pro as the filter is just not wide enough to cover the entire screen. In case it helps, I purchased my MBP in May 2010, and is a 13.3 inches screens model.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't expect too much, 17 Jun 2010

The screen may be fine for most 17" laptops but is not really suitable for the MacBook Pro Unibody.

Pros:
1) The filter does prevent people seeing data on your screen
2) the filter has a gloss and a matt side so you can use it to reduce the glare on your screen ( main reason I purchased it was to reduce the glare on my Macbook pro)
3) Is removable (the tabs do get a bit loose if you do this too often, and you will get finger prints all over it)
4) the quality of the plastic seems to be fairly good

Cons:

1)The connectors that hold the filter in place look VERY cheap and tacky, on a sexy laptop in this, it looks like a do-it-yourself job.
2)If you have a high "dots per square inch" (DPI) resolution (like this17 inch screen) you will notice the separation of red green and blue, so it looks like a bit like you're looking through some kind of multicolour mesh. So not great during graphics or colour matching work. Does not produce the gauss effect so much for lower DPI screens, just tried it on my Samsung monitor.
3) There is a small piece cut out at the bottom of the filter so it looks a bit odd (its to help you remove the filter off the screen, still duff design)
4) I had to keep my screen on maximum brightness to match my previous monitor setting of 50%.
5) The battery life gets reduced by about 30% due to extra power consumption required to keep screen bright enough.

Overall it does what it says on the tin but don't expect it to do it in style or efficiency.
It doesn't fit the MacBook Pro well (wasn't expecting it either), I purchased it to reduce the glare on the screen without having to put the films on it and it does that well.

In short, buy it but don't expect too much from it, if you want a privacy filter this is fine, as a basic anti glare this will also works for non high dpi screens. Its a little pricey for what seems like some sort of polarised plastic, but hey, most of us can't make them at home for less then what you pay for this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Macbook Air users beware, 28 Mar 2011

Bought this as a privacy filter either for my Macbook Pro 13.3" or my Macbook Air 13.3"....with the tabs it can be transferred with ease.

HOWEVER.

This works great on the Pro, lovely gold sheen from either side and good vision through the centre.

It does not work on the Air, there is an interference pattern on the screen like a lot of diagonal black bars across the screen when in use, making it unusable. I presume Apple have some form of polarising filter on the front of the Air screen to improve visibility, with which this filter is interfering.

Will keep looking for a usable one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pluses and Minuses, 5 Aug 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One the plus side, the filter works very well and also is very good at reducing glare, particularly with reflective screen surfaces. On the minus side, it darkens the screen a bit. It also works to filter the screen from yourself if you have the screen tilted a bit too far. This can be annoying when the angle shifts, e.g., when traveling. The other down side is the filter tends to fall off when you lower the screen.
